We had the trapline started, some sort of idea of what lay ahead, now to spread our "wings" a little further and hopefully pick up our first dog of the trip.

We were heading north to start what turned out to be, one heck of a trapping program. The way it started, was the way it finished, from day one, to day fifty, there was always something going on.

For those viewing from outside Aussie, when we call someone a "Ringer", it is our way of describing a good young country worker, someone showing style, ability and "Get up and go!! That's exactly what I had with me as we brought this trapline to a close.

We had gone four days without a catch, four days of checking and rechecking in the rain. Then our luck started to change. It isn't often you get five catches in the one day but when you "hold the line", most times it goes your way in the end.

A lot of people have been asking me , "How is Trumpy?", as he was badly injured by a boar earlier in the year. Well, glad to say that this episode (although set a few months ago) shows that he is,
"Alive and Kickin'",
and back to his over enthusiastic, arrogant self !!

With seven dogs down, the sign had reduced and the going was tough. Near misses at five trap-sites just "rubbed salt into our wounds". Time to "Go Hard or Go Home" .

Our Brandon, is a "Gentleman", a very respectful, steady and sensible..... Border Collie unlike another that comes to mind (sorry, couldn't help the pun!) Don't know how I would survive without my B/W mates!

We have a duty, a responsibility, a chance but also a privilege, to set a standard of behaviour for the young minds who watch us. It seems like only yesterday, that men of character like my own Grandad and Dad, would do the same for the lads of my era. Pass it on carefully my friends.
