I think I inherited my MacGyver gene from George. 😂
I've always called him George. But he's my Dad.
Today I've been thinking about how much of me was shaped by this rough around the edges, grease under the fingernails man.
George could fix just about anything. Trucks. Dozers. Motorbikes. Caravans.
He built roads, worked away to provide for us, and fixed things most people would throw out, often to give them away.
But this grease monkey loved orchids and ferns, brought injured wildlife home, and picked wild flowers for Mum.
That's George.
He taught me to work hard and love what I do. Don't spend more than you earn. (Still a work in progress on that one. 😂) Save for what you want.
We lived in a caravan for years while they saved for a house.
As a little girl, if George said something, it was TRUE.
As an adult, I've learned to ask George, check a few other sources, then make up my own bloody mind. We clash sometimes, but I've never stopped respecting him.
One of the greatest things he taught me had nothing to do with money.
Heartbroken over my first boyfriend, George told teenage me:
“If you can't love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to love you?”
I didn't understand him then. It took another 20 or 30 years to really understand.
Maybe that's one of the funny things about getting older.
You recognise what your parents gave you that couldn't be left in a will.
Work ethic. Resourcefulness. Generosity. A love of nature. The courage to form your own opinions.
And apparently the inability to walk past something broken without wondering if you could fix it. 😂
Maybe that's part of wealth too.
Not just what our parents leave behind one day, but what they quietly leave in us while they're here.
Happy Father's Day, George. 💛
Facebook isn't exactly your natural habitat. 😂 But I'll ring you tonight and tell you I love you.
P.S. If you know George, you'll know why I chose this song. He sang The Battle of New Orleans to us kids, and later the grandkids, usually driving Mum crazy. We still sing along.
Blessings and huge wobbly huggles because I think they are the best,

I woke up this morning thinking about all the different versions of me I’ve been in this one lifetime.
Then I started looking through old photos and thought, holy moly. There are a LOT of us.
There’s the young woman carrying Kyle after three miscarriages, so grateful to finally be pregnant.
The woman who thought her friend’s brother was pretty hot, and ended up marrying him. 😂
The woman who hiked for days, went off on her own, climbed mountains and sometimes scared the crap out of herself.
And the woman who found those mountains harder, but kept bloody walking anyway.
There was a season when even walking became hard.
Another where I went plant-based, shed more than 30 kilos and felt really good in my skin again.
And there’s one photo that means more than anyone would know.
The one with my grandson.
For close to 20 years, I hardly wanted to be in photos.
I was there. Living. Loving. Raising my family. Taking the photos.
But somewhere along the way, I stopped wanting the camera turned towards me.
That photo was me learning to love myself enough to come back into the frame.
Since then I’ve shaved my head, gone deeper spiritually, grieved, dreamed, changed my mind and started again more than once.
And then there was Bella 🦋. My beautiful girl beside me as we travelled Australia. My soul mate. Now I’m learning how to live without her physical presence beside me.
I’ll be 59 in November. Sixty next year.
I don’t look at these women and wish I could go back.
I love them. Even the ones who were struggling.
Every one of them brought me here.
And somehow, that friend’s brother is still beside me. 💛
We’re still dreaming. Still becoming. Still creating a life that feels like ours.
And I’m really curious about the woman I haven’t met yet.
What about you? Is there a version of yourself you understand differently now?

I've been waiting patiently to share these with you. 💛
A little while ago I shared a glimpse of Hayden and Mackenzie's wedding day and promised I'd come back with more photos.
Well, here they are.
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful day.
There was something really special about watching these two stand together, hold hands, say their vows and begin this next chapter of their lives surrounded by family and friends.
And I have to say, it brought back so many memories of my photographer days.
The venue was absolutely gorgeous and everywhere I looked I could see another possibility for a photo.
Beautiful light, gardens, little corners and moments just waiting to be captured.
But some of my favourite memories came after the photos.
As the light disappeared, the fairy lights came on in the garden.
There was music playing, dancing, a swing under the lights, people laughing and talking, and family and friends just enjoying being together.
It was one of those nights where you stop for a moment, look around and think.
This is bloody beautiful. 💛
And looking through these photos again reminds me that the photographs aren't really the memory.
They're the little doorways that take us back to how it all felt.
So, as promised, here's a little more of Hayden and Mackenzie's beautiful wedding day.
May you have a lifetime of moments you'll want to remember. 💛
Very happy and proud God parents.

Turns out, I'm still the automation.
I've always been a bit of a MacGyver in business. Give me a problem and I'll usually find some bloody way to make it work.
That's exactly what I did while I was away.
My keyword workflows weren't ready, so I thought, bu**er it. If someone comments, I'll send the link myself.
Fine when it's one person.
But I remember thinking, Sonya Maree, what happens when it's twenty?
I don't want to automate the human bits. I want the conversations.
But sending the same link over and over? My system can carry that.
So today I went in to fix it.
And gaudy lordy. 😂
Let's just say one innocent little keyword has taken me down quite the rabbit hole.
But the belief hasn't changed.
I want technology carrying the repetitive bits so I have more room for the human ones.
And maybe you're a bit like me.
You've found ways to make things work because you're capable and resourceful and, quite frankly, you can.
But just because you can keep holding all those little pieces together doesn't mean you should have to.
What could your system quietly carry for you, so you've got more room for the conversations, the creative work and the life you actually want to be in?
That's really what all of this comes back to for me.
I'm not building better systems so I can cram more work into my days.
I'm building them because I want a business that leaves room for the life René and I are creating too.
Still on the road to Gaia Grove Sanctuary. 🌿
So what are you still MacGyvering in your business that your system could carry for you?
And if you're sitting there thinking, “Actually, quite a bloody lot,” this might be a beautiful time to have a look at what I've been building inside Freedom Tool Suite.

Welcome, beautiful soul. I'm Sonya Maree.
I'm 58, living in a caravan in Tasmania with René, still on the road to Gaia Grove Sanctuary.
I'm a brand designer, ecosystem builder and lifestyle creator, building a life I don't need a holiday from.
My world has three pathways.
Freedom Tool Suite is the front door for women building online who want a calmer digital home for their business.
Clean Freedom Living is where I share the food, water, home and clean-living choices that are genuinely part of our life.
Soulful Wealth is about aligned income, sustainability and creating the freedom to support the life we're building.
Underneath all three is real life. Caravan living. Vegan food. Client builds. Money. Midlife. Health. Grief. Learning. Creating.
And Bella, our beautiful golden girl, who crossed over in August, will always be woven through this chapter too. 💛
I've made money and lost a bloody lot of it. We've travelled, changed direction and started again.
I'm living it while I'm building it.
If you're the glue holding your online business together, remembering which link goes where, manually following people up, juggling your website, emails, bookings and offers, this is where I can help.
You need a calmer digital home where the pieces work together, your business still feels like you, and everything doesn't depend on you remembering what happens next.
If you just thought, “Bloody hell, that's me,” Start Here.
Facebook: Start Here link is in the first comment.
Instagram: Start Here is in my bio.

It still amazes me that I didn't choose veganism.
Veganism chose me.
Let me explain.
Have you ever had a quiet whisper change the course of your life?
I have.
I can still remember the moment as though it happened yesterday.
It was October 2019.
I was standing on our 100 square metre deck after we'd just finished hosting a beautiful retreat.
I had a warm cup of dandelion tea wrapped between my hands.
In front of me were rolling grassy paddocks.
I could hear the river in the distance.
The chooks were scratching around in the grass looking for insects.
It was like eye candy everywhere.
Everything I had ever dreamed of.
I was feeling so grounded and so grateful.
And then came a butterfly that tickled my heart.
A gentle whisper.
Why don't we just eat fruit today?
It seemed far too small to matter.
Looking back now, I realise it was never really about the fruit.
It was the beginning of a conversation that would quietly change the way I ate and, in many ways, the way I lived.
Not because someone argued with me.
Not because I wanted to prove a point.
But because I chose to keep listening to the quiet nudges that kept returning.
Today, that same philosophy lives inside My Happy Little Cow Kitchen.
Nourishing food, kind hearts.
Still on the road to Gaia Grove Sanctuary.
Our dream of a riverside acreage in North West Tasmania.
Creating digital homes online and welcoming spaces in person where women can fully feel like themselves.
Choosing clean living through water, food that nourishes with kindness, and soulful wealth aligned with your heart, mind, body and soul.
Has a quiet whisper ever changed the course of your life? I'd love to hear your story. 💛

Creating beautiful spaces where women feel more fully themselves. Online in a website. In person at a retreat. In print. On land. All of it is the same work.
Right now I am writing this from a caravan in Tasmania, with my husband René and our golden retriever Bella beside me. We are building toward Gaia Grove Sanctuary, our dream piece of land with river frontage. Every piece of work I do brings us one step closer.
I have been building businesses since high school, starting with tie-dyeing jeans and never really stopping. Fashion design, teaching, photography, retreat operations, digital services.
Over 40 years and across every season of life, the same thing kept proving itself true. Sustainable income comes from aligning your work with your values. Not from chasing someone else's model.
Today I work with established women in wellness, coaching, retreat facilitation, naturopathy, and creative services.
Not everyone needs a website. But every woman who has one deserves to know how to use it as a powerful content creation and lead generation and nurturing ecosystem.
That is what I build. Not just a logo. Not just a website. The whole picture, built from the inside out.
And I work alongside practitioners, creatives, and coaches who believe, like I do, that multiple aligned income streams are not a compromise. They are the goal.
That belief is what the Holistic Freedom Hub is built on. A community of women who are done doing it the hard way and ready to build something that actually fits the life they want.
At the centre of it is the Freedom Tool Suite™, my white-label business ecosystem platform that holds your database, bookings, email, and funnels in one place you actually own.
Ten founding member spaces are open right now at $97 USD per month, with a 30 day trial, and access to both one on one and group coaching containers.
If you are ready for infrastructure and community that finally reflects who you are, send me a message or visit sonyamareekok.com with your favourite cuppa.
In September 2026 I am hosting A Room to Breathe at Flagstaff Estate in Tasmania. More gatherings are coming.
