Time for little cars racing!

Trialling some pov camera of the racing, my good friend Morgan Johnson gave me the idea so have done the finals from last night.

Here is the footage from Bayside Radio Control Car Club 21.5 A finals and a little sneaky video from the flip flop during the 13.5 A Final.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING IN RC ISN’T THE CAR.

It’s time.

You don’t realize it at first.

You think you’re buying a Rc Car.

Then you buy bodies.

Then a decent set of tools.

Then a decent charger.

Then a race bag.

Then another chassis because somebody crashed.

Then tires.

Then different gears.

Then race entries.

Then a better motors.

Then a hotel because the events are further away.

Then you realize you haven’t had a normal weekend in three years.

You miss birthdays.

You miss parties.

You turn down vacations.

You spend Friday nights loading the car while everybody else is making dinner.

You wake up before daylight and drive six hours so you can get six minutes of track time.

And eventually somebody asks you:

“Is it worth it?”

That’s actually a hard question.

Because if you’re doing the math…

No.

It doesn’t make sense.

But here’s the part nobody understands.

You’re not really paying for the race.

You’re paying for the mornings you get up early because you’re excited.

You’re paying for the friendships you remember when your talking to non Rc friends

You’re paying for the confidence you carry into a room because you learned how to lose without quitting.

You’re paying for the conversations that only happen at 2 a.m. in a truck somewhere three states from home.

You’re paying for memories that don’t come with a receipt.

And someday…

the Rc will be gone.

The car will be sitting in a closet.

The truck won’t have a trailer

That’s when you’ll realize what you were actually buying all those years.

Not Rc

Time.

And you never get that s**t back.
