🏁 WINTER MELTDOWN β€” MARYBOROUGH 🏁

After finishing work just in time to make his first heat, Braxtyn jumped straight into race mode and went on to have a heat win in both categories!

He had some great, close racing all day, going wheel-to-wheel with his mate Braxton most of the day!

Braxtyn finished the day with πŸ₯ˆ in Juniors and πŸ₯ˆ in Junior Standards β€” a fantastic result! πŸ‘πŸ

But today was extra special as we celebrated Braxtyn’s 14th birthday also! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚

We are so incredibly proud of the young man you’re becoming. Watching you grow, both on and off the track, makes us prouder than words can say. Keep chasing your dreams, keep working hard and most importantly, keep enjoying what you love! πŸ’™

Unfortunately, Layne was still unable to race, but that didn’t stop him from having a great day! He had plenty of fun hanging out with the other kids, kicking the footy!

Thanks to Nanny Carol, Poppy Brett, Poppy Steve & Uncle Chris for watching and supporting Braxtyn today!

26/27 Season!

17/08/2026

🏁 THOMSEN RACING | 2025/26 SEASON WRAP-UP 🏁

And just like that, another season of karting is done! What a year it has been for Layne & Braxtyn. ❀️🏁

This season we gave the boys every opportunity possible to get as much track time as we could, to continue developing their driving, while also giving Mitch the opportunity to learn more about kart set-up and the different tracks. Looking back, it has certainly paid off in the results!

🏁 SUNSTATE SPEEDWAY KART CLUB

We competed in 7/7 race meetings, starting the season at Mick Doohan Raceway before transitioning over to Lockyer Valley Speedway, Gatton, to finish the season.

Some of the key events included the Queensland Title at Nudgee, the Final Hurrah and the President’s Cup at Gatton.

End of Season Points -
πŸ† Layne – 1st Sub Juniors
πŸ† Braxtyn – 1st Juniors
πŸ₯‰ Braxtyn – 3rd Junior Standards

🏁 MARYBOROUGH SPEEDWAY KARTS

We managed to compete at 5/5 meetings, with the other three unfortunately falling victim to wet weather.

Some pretty special meetings were held throughout the season, including the Margaret Memorial, Thomsen Livestock & Contracting Junior Stampede and Clarke Motorsport Nationals.

End of Season Points -
πŸ† Layne – 1st Sub Juniors
πŸ† Braxtyn – 1st Juniors
πŸ† Braxtyn – 1st Junior Standards

🏁 BUNDABERG SPEEDWAY KARTS

Weather certainly played its part here too, with two meetings cancelled due to wet weather. But we managed to finish the season with a fantastic two-day event in June, rounding out the Twin Track Series before moving into the Sugar Coast Clash 20/20.

What a way to finish the season! πŸ™Œ

🏁 VICTORIAN & AUSTRALIAN TITLES – MILDURA VIC

April saw us pack up and travel approximately 1,800km and 19.5 hours from home to Mildura for the Victorian and Australian Titles.

Both boys drove extremely well and came away with some fantastic results.

Victorian results -
πŸ† Layne – V1 / Victorian Title
πŸ₯‰ Braxtyn – 3rd Juniors
πŸ… Braxtyn – 4th Junior Standards

The boys then stayed on in Victoria for two weeks, enjoying some much-needed holiday time with Nan & Pop while Mum & Dad flew home to get back to work in between! πŸ–οΈ

The Australian Titles, unfortunately, brought one of the toughest moments of our season. Layne had been absolutely dominant all weekend and crossed the finish line as AUS 1, only to have the result taken away following a technical issue involving a broken fin/cover, resulting in a disqualification and 12-month suspension.

It was an incredibly difficult experience, especially after everything that had gone into the weekend, but we will keep our heads held high and refuse to let one decision define our season or Layne’s love of racing. πŸ’™

Braxtyn has a very competitive field of racers making it one of the best racing of the days being so close, competitive and clean!

Australian Results -
4th Braxtyn - Juniors
5th Braxtyn - Junior Standards

❀️ BUT THE TROPHIES AREN’T WHAT MATTER MOST…

When we started this season, the focus was on giving the boys as much opportunity as possible to improve, learn and develop.

But reflecting on the year, we’ve realised the real wins aren’t hanging on the trophy shelf.

It’s the good times.

It’s the friendships the kids have made β€” and the friendships us parents have made along the way.

It’s cheering each other on, celebrating each other’s wins, showing good sportsmanship and being there when things don’t go your way.

It’s the weekends away, the holidays, the camping, the laughs, the late nights, the early mornings and all the adventures in between.

Most importantly, it’s the memories we are creating together β€” the ones the boys will be able to look back on years from now and talk about for the rest of their lives. ❀️

πŸ’₯ 2026/27 β€” A LITTLE DIFFERENT πŸ’₯

Going into the 2026/27 season, we’re going to take a little step back. Layne is still out for most of this season but Braxtyn will be running both classes when possible!

We’re going to slow things down, enjoy the fun, spend more time with our karting family and head to the meetings we can make when they fit around our other commitments.

We have also made the decision not to travel down to Victoria for the Victorian or Australian Titles this season!

Instead, we’ll stay closer to home, support our local clubs where we can and, most importantly, enjoy the ride.

A massive thank you to every club, committee member, official, volunteer, sponsor, family and friend who has been part of our season.

And to our karting family β€” thank you for the laughs, the support, the encouragement and the memories. ❀️

🏁 SUNSTATE ANNUAL PRESENTATION NIGHT 🏁

Last night we ventured down to Springwood for the SunState Speedway Karts Annual Presentation Night, and what a fantastic night it was! πŸ™Œ

It was great to see such a huge turnout celebrating another season of Speedway Karts.

We’ve had a massive season at Sunstate, starting out at Nudgee and finishing up at Gatton – River 94.9 Lockyer Valley Speedway after the bike track at Nudgee was unfortunately shut down by Council.

The boys were lucky enough to come away with some awesome results across the Sunstate season:

πŸ† LAYNE – 1st Sub Juniors
After everything Layne has been through over the last few months, he was absolutely shocked to hear his name called. Seeing that huge smile on his face was priceless! ❀️🏁

πŸ† BRAXTYN – 1st Juniors
πŸ₯‰ 3rd Junior Standards
With some seriously competitive racing throughout the season, all the kids have worked hard and put together another fantastic year of awesome racing!

As always, Sunstate continues to grow in leaps and bounds and remains such a supportive club for the kids in this sport. It’s fantastic to be part of a club that puts so much into developing and encouraging the next generation of racers. πŸ‘

A massive THANK YOU to all our amazing sponsors who continue to support us and make this racing journey possible. We appreciate every single one of you! πŸ™β€οΈ

🏁 Maryborough Speedway End Of Season Presentation! 🏁

Last night we celebrated the end of another speedway karting season at the Maryborough Speedway End of Season Presentation Night.

We’re incredibly proud of what both boys have achieved throughout the season.

πŸ† πŸ₯‡ Layne was awarded 1st Place Sub Juniors for the highest overall points of the season. After everything he’s been through this year, this award is a testament to his determination, talent and the hard work he put in every time he hit the track.

πŸ† πŸ₯‡ πŸ₯‡ Braxtyn also taking home 1st Place Juniors and 1st Place Junior Standards for the highest overall points in both classes. His consistency, dedication and drive all season long have certainly paid off.

A huge thank you to the Maryborough Speedway Club committee, officials, volunteers, sponsors and everyone who helps make the sport possible. We also want to thank our family, friends and fellow competitors for another season full of great racing, friendships and memories.

Congratulations to all the award recipients on your achievements throughout the season.

Thanks always to our sponsors to help make this possible

🏁 Sugar Coast Clash 20/20 – Bundaberg 🏁

Another great day back at Bundaberg Speedway Karts Inc for the Sugar Coast Clash 20/20, with Braxtyn pulling double duties across the day.

Partnering up with Braxton Kotsano in Q1, the boys put together some fantastic drives, racing hard all day and coming away with the win in Juniors! πŸ₯‡ πŸ†

Braxtyn also teamed up with Tyler Harre in M88, where they had some close, competitive racing to finish the day with 2nd place. πŸ₯ˆ

Braxtyn & Braxton raced good all day claiming the win in M88 Junior Standard! πŸ₯‡ πŸ†

A huge thanks to Bundaberg club for putting on another great event, along with all of our family, supporters and sponsors who continue to back us every weekend. Congratulations to all the competitors for some awesome racing.

That now concludes our racing for 2025/2026 season! πŸ’™πŸπŸ’¨

Another big day in the books at Bundaberg Speedway Karts Inc Carina Speedway for the final round of the Twin Track Challenge! 🏁

Braxtyn had another fantastic day on track, bringing home:
πŸ₯‡ 1st - Juniors
πŸ₯ˆ 2nd - Junior Standards

That was enough to secure some awesome overall results across the three-round series:
πŸ₯ˆ 2nd Overall - Juniors (missing out on the top spot by just 1 point to one of his good mates, Braxton K!)
πŸ₯‡ 1st Overall - Junior Standards

A huge shoutout also goes to Layne. After leading the Twin Track Challenge points following the first two rounds, he unfortunately wasn’t able to compete yesterday due to his current suspension. Despite that, he still finished πŸ₯‰overall in the Twin Track Challenge. We couldn’t be prouder of the maturity, resilience and positive attitude he’s shown through what has been a really tough situation with SKAA. Your time will come again, mate. πŸ’™

Congratulations to everyone who competed throughout the series and to all the place getters.

Now it’s time to head back to Bundy today and get ready for the Sugar Coast Clash 20/20! Bring it on! πŸ’ͺ🏁

🏁 Clark Motorsports Nationals Recap 🏁

A little different format to the usual race meeting, with time trials determining heat race positions before the battle for feature race began.

While Layne is still serving his suspension from racing, there was a silver lining when it was decided Friday night for his best mate, Mal to jump into Layne’s kart for a run. Mal absolutely nailed it, driving brilliantly all day and bringing home the win in the V1! πŸ†

As tough as it was for Layne not to be out there doing what he loves, he showed great sportsmanship being trackside supporting his mate and sharing in the success, even though he did bail on riding horses with his mum to do this! πŸ’™

Braxtyn had another strong meeting, setting the fastest time in Junior time trials and the second quickest time in Junior Standards. He then went on to qualify Pole Position for the Junior Feature, finishing the day with an impressive 2nd place in Juniors and 3rd place in Junior Standards.

To top off a great weekend, Braxtyn was also awarded the Hard Charger Award for the meeting – a fantastic recognition of his determination and racing effort throughout the event. πŸ’ͺ🏁

A huge thank you to those loyal to us who continues to support our family both on and off the track.

This will be the last chance to watch Braxtyn on the track! 🏁πŸ”₯

🏁 Lockyer Valley Speedway – Sunstate Kart Club Presidents Cup 🏁

What a great way to finish off the season at River 94.9 Lockyer Valley Speedway for the SunState Speedway Karts Presidents Cup!

As always, the competition was tough all day with some very close racing across all classes. Braxtyn drove exceptionally well qualifying pole for both features and represented our team proudly.

A massive effort bringing home:
πŸ₯‡ 1st – Juniors
πŸ₯‡ 1st – Junior Standard

Thank you to Sunstate Kart Club, officials, volunteers and everyone involved in making the meeting happen.

Also, big thanks to Through The Fence Photos for capturing on track photos of the day!

Racing duties swapped around last night! 🏁

After having Uncle Scotty spinning spanners for the boys down south recently, it was Mitch & Layneo’s turn to return the favour and help out Uncle Scotty at the Queensland Wingless Sprints Title at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway last night! πŸ”§

What a night of racing it was β€” super close battles all feature long with Scotty putting on an awesome drive to come away as your NEW Queensland Champion for the 6th time! πŸ†πŸ‘

Massive congratulations Uncle Scotty, we’re all incredibly proud of you! πŸ”₯
