WE WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY LASITH MALINGA....
Considered as one of the greatest limited-overs bowlers of all time, Malinga's unorthodox action and dipping slower ball yorkers are credited with much of his success. He is best known for his ability to take consecutive wickets, with in-swinging yorkers: he is the only bowler in the world to have two World Cup hat-tricks, the only bowler to have taken three hat-tricks in ODIs and the only player to have taken four wickets in four consecutive balls in any form of international cricket, which he has done twice.

On 22 April 2011, he announced his retirement from Test cricket. He has been named as the official event ambassador for the World Twenty20 Championships by ICC. On 26 July 2019, he retired from One Day International cricket after the first ODI against Bangladesh.

In September 2019, during the series against New Zealand, Malinga became the first bowler to take 100 wickets in Twenty20 International cricket. Malinga took a hat-trick to become the first bowler to claim two T20I hat-tricks, and four wickets with four balls, in the third over of his spell, while becoming the second bowler in the world to take four wickets in four consecutive balls in T20I history after Rashid Khan during the process. He was the first bowler to take four wickets in four consecutive balls twice in international cricket, after previously doing so against South Africa in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. He also became the first bowler to take five hat-tricks across all formats of international cricket and thus holds the record for producing most number of hat-tricks in international cricket.

‘PARA’ RETIRED FROM 1ST CLASS CRICKET...
Tharanga Paranavithana, Sri Lanka's 111th Test batsman, retired in his second innings of 17 runs in the second innings of the three - day Premier League final against Negombo CC today. Paranavithana, who has played 32 international Tests for Sri Lanka, has scored 1792 runs at an average of 32.58. He has colored his Test career with 2 centuries and 11 half centuries. His 111 against India is his best inning in international cricket. Tharanga Paranavithana, the Sri Lankan cricketer who suffered the most casualties in the March 3, 2009 terrorist attack in Lahore, Pakistan, was fortunate enough to survive even a bullet piercing his body. Despite his talent, this Marvelous left-handed batsman, who did not receive much attention from the authorities, is playing first class matches and is currently the captain and coach of the Tamil Union Sports Club. He has a great first class career and many records bearing his name. Paranavithana, who was hoping to end his career with 15,000 first-class runs in the final and only match of the year, was 61 runs behind the cut. He was out to a low score in the first innings of the match, which increased the pressure on him in the second innings. However, he has played a huge role in Sri Lankan cricket and as a simple man with a very humble disposition, he is also committed to social work. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors..
Thank you para !!!.

SHIVNARINE CHANDERPAUL: My first first-class game with my son, Brandon. He got 4️⃣2️⃣ in the first innings, I scored a 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ in the second. Earlier in the season we had put on 2️⃣5️⃣6️⃣ in a club game in Guyana, both scoring centuries. Brandon was telling me what he would do and what he wouldn’t do. I told him to calm down and play the situation. Like lots of youngsters, he’s a bit too aggressive sometimes. I’m trying to get him to realise that as an opening batsman you have to have a look at what the bowler is doing and leave a few balls up front. You can’t just go out there and smash everything....

INDIAN CRICKET GREAT MS DHONI RETIRES AFTER
16-YEAR INTERNATIONAL CAREER.

Indian cricket great Mahendra Singh Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket.

Key points:
*Under his stewardship, India won the T20 World Cup in 2007, the 50-over World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013.
*The team also reached the top of the Test rankings in 2009 under his leadership.
*He was dropped from India's centrally contracted players in January.

"Thanks a lot for your love and support throughout. From 19:29 hours consider me as retired," the 39-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman posted on his Instagram account.

He made his Test debut in 2005 and retired from the longer format of the game nine years later.
Dhoni was one of his country's most successful captains before standing down as skipper of the limited-over teams in 2017.

In Tests, Dhoni made 4,876 runs with the bat, averaging 38. He hit 33 half-centuries and six centuries, and also took 256 catches and made 38 stumpings.
In ODIs, he totaled 10,773 runs, averaging 50. He hit 73 half-centuries and 10 centuries, and also took 321 catches and made 123 stumpings.
In T20s, Dhoni made 1,617 runs, averaging 37. He hit two half-centuries, and also took 57 catches and made 34 stumping.

Dhoni, who played in 90 tests, 350 one-day internationals and 98 Twenty20s for his country, was dropped from India's list of 27 centrally contracted players in January.

The news came as he joined his Chennai Super Kings teammates ahead of next month's Indian Premier League tournament, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates because of the coronavirus pandemic.

We wish you a very happy birthday Athula Samarasekera (big Sam)

Former Sri Lankan cricketer who is currently working and living in Australia. He was a hard hitting opening batsman and a medium fast bowler, who played four Tests and 39 ODIs between 1983 and 1994.
He loved to dominate bowlers and considered to have been the reasons for the change in approach of openers .

We wish you a very happy birthday Nuwan Kulasekara....

Nuwan played for the Sri Lanka national cricket team in all three formats of the game. He is widely regarded as one of the world's best swing bowlers.[1] Kulasekara was number one in the ODI bowlers rankings on 11 March 2009, and remained in that position until 26 September of that year (the only Sri Lankan to do so).

Does your coach have the knowledge to train you to become an elite fast bowler?

Most fast bowlers don’t have the knowledge of how to train their body for fast bowling. Just like your skill training, it’s very important to do specific training for fast bowling. Basic weight training is not going to help you develop as a skilled fast bowler.
There are three phases in training:
1.Concentric
2.Eccentric
3.Isometric
Most bowlers train for only one or two of them . It is important to have all three phases included in your training schedule.
This is called “TriPhasic Training”- The most scientifically advanced method of training for fast bowling.

Murali crowned as the most valuable Test player of 21st century.

World’s highest Test wicket taker Muttiah Muralitharan has been named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 21st Century by the Wisden Cricket Monthly.

The magazine in colutation with the CricViz, the world’s leading cricket analytics company has released the top 30 Test players of the 21st Century and Sri Lankan off-spinner tops the list.

We have collected the data from the year 2000, so the list is for the period 2000-2020,” Sam Stow, the Marketing Director, Wisden Cricket Monthly, said. “Out of Murali’s total 800 Test wickets, his 573 wickets in 85 matches were taken from January 1, 2000 to 2010. Only person ahead during this period is James Anderson with 584 but he has played 151 games (2000-2020),” he added.

Jo Harman, Wisden Cricket Monthly magazine editor, speaking exclusively said. “Murali and Glenn McGrath stand out as the two most impactful bowlers in this analysis by a distance. In this investigation we are analysing the impact of players, not judging who is best, and as a spinner who bowled marathon spells, the Sri Lankan had greater opportunity to dominate Test matches,” Freddie Wilde, CricViz analyst, speaking exclusively explained
