15/09/2026

get excited!!

Bookings have been open less than 24 hours and over 40 students have already booked in.

Mizoguchi Shihan is coming to Australia in October. For one night only, he'll be teaching at the Shogokan Keysborough Dojo.

Presented by the Ish*tobi-Ha Sh*to-ryu Shukokai Union Oceania.

Who is Mizoguchi Shihan? Shihan is the owner and instructor at Japan's number one junior dojo in Japan. His dojo has more All-Japan champions than any other dojo in Japan. He's also a Shukokai Karate 7th Dan and Shihan under my instructor Ish*tobi Hanshi. Shihan is also a 5th Dan in Kendo and a 3rd Dan in Judo.

On top of all of this, he is a full-time Police officer. He spends all of his working days teaching karate to the Kobe Police Force. He's the only full-time karate instructor within the Japan Police Force.

Want more? He's bringing two of his top Junior students, both of whom are All-Japan Champions!!

His classes are not to be missed.

Due to the expected popularity of his classes, you must book if you want to attend; there are limited spots. Only registered students may attend. So don't delay booking.

There are classes for all junior (7-12 years) and Teen/Adult students; all Shukokai Karate Dojos students are eligible to book to attend.

This weekend we the Annual Ish*tobi-Ha Sh*to-ryu Shukokai Karate Union Oceania Gasshuku.

Including myself we had 7 members from Shogokan attend.

Training was tough, how it should be.

Emphasis was placed on kihon and attitude. Train with intent, commit fully to every action, and learn to switch “on” and “off” with purpose.

A massive thank you to Stephen Kelly Shihan, Head of The Union in Oceania, for being an outstanding host and for organising this wonderful Gasshuku.

Congratulations to everyone who graded, well deserved!

Promoted to Yondan (4th Dan) - Sensei Jack Felton

Promoted to Shodan (1st Dan) - Senpai Mario Tavone

I’m already looking forward to next year.
