After all getting ducks in their previous innings thet went into bat at 3,4 and 5. They looked stunning in their duck shirts.

Tommy should wear his more often as he went on to make 140 not out off 87 balls.
17 fours and 6 sixes

Great stuff mate

Even though we had a good win today, there is more interest in the battle for the duck award!

Nathan and Brendan are giving it a great crack with both batting beautifully for a 1st ball duck and a 2nd ball duck.

Game 5 and we are becoming extremely consistent…. In dropping catches and losing matches.
What I can say, even though the start of the season has been a bit rough, the morale has been good with plenty of banter and laughter. That Jester hat is getting a workout with all the drops and the fine master is keeping busy.
After the game we gathered at the Firestation Hotel where the club chucked on some drinks and a feed.
There's not a great deal to say about this game. We were rolled for only 71 runs after 25.1 overs. As it has been so far, we are really struggling to get runs on the board. Tommy batted well scoring 27 off 35 deliveries, including 2 fours and 2 sixes.
The highlight in the batting was Gary celebrating not getting a golden duck. He was in risk of getting his 3rd straight, but due to the ball not being on the stumps he played and missed perfectly to avoid the 3rd. The celebration was worthy of someone scoring 100 runs, which really confused the Waratah boys. Gary went on to 2nd top score with 14.
Special mention goes to Nev, Micky T, Blayno and Kale on 4 very well compiled ducks.
Waratah chased, or scratched around forever getting the runs with 5 wickets down. It took until the 30th over to get there, mainly due to a great opening spell from Drew and Tommy. Drew finished with 1 for 6 off 7 overs, and Tommy 2 for 10 off his 7.
One of the greatest fielding efforts I’ve seen in a long time goes to Brendan who dropped his 1st and got to proudly wear the Jesters hat. Realizing he really enjoyed the limelight; he then dropped the next two catches that went up. Three dropped catches in a row to hog the Jesters hat is very unsportsmanlike and is not what Tech College is about. Please share it around this weekend!
That’s a wrap, and lets hope our batsmen can get things underway and support the bowlers.

Game 4 and it’s bad news….. another loss.

We won the toss and put Adamstown in on a damp wicket thinking we could take advantage of it. Well, if we didn’t drop 8 catches, we probably could have, but in true Tech form we dropped more than we took to ensure the Jesters hat travelled around the ground very quickly from player to player. Of course, the real reason we drop these catches is to ensure the fines continue to tick along.

Adamstown scorecard was only slightly better than ours as it was dominated by the one batsman. Their number 4 came out and blasted 89, including 10 fours and 4 sixes. This included us dropping him 5 times just to help him out as we are nice blokes. Next highest score was 21 and sundries showed some form with a well compiled 17.

They finished 6 down for 200. Not much to say about the bowling other than Al picked up 2, Biggsy picked up 2 and a second calf twinge of the season, another 2 weeks or so out. Gary and Andrew V picking up one each as well.

The run chase started well with us losing our 1st wicket at 56. It proved to be the start of everyone struggling but Al, the second highest score was Drew with a not out 11.

Al held the side together and nearly got us home with a great knock of 121. The stats haven’t been put in, but let’s just say there were plenty of boundaries hit in the innings. It was great knock and was highly entertaining to watch. Great stuff mate.

Talking about hits, Biggsy managed to get fined for a new addition to the fines, not completing the 35 overs whilst fielding (dodgy calf) then not completing his innings whilst batting with a not out 6. He hobbled out, hobbled between wickets, then thought he'd use the cricket ball as a hearing aid. He discovered a cricket ball to the right ear doesn’t assist your hearing, it just makes a loud thud. He was told to leave the field even though he protested like a 5-year-old having a tantrum. Being 3 foot tall it's surprising he wasn’t given out EBW (ear before wicket)

Now what we do have in the batting column, and it’s extremely disappointing, not a single duck! This a pretty poor effort considering 7 players got under 10 runs. Let’s work on this in the coming weeks and continue building the fine kitty. Luckily, we can’t catch.

Fingers crossed we can get a win up this weekend.

And we are away……. The first win came in style, largely to a huge innings from Tommy! More of that to come.
Wallsend batted first amassing 6 – 220 off their 35 overs.
Drew was the pick of the bowlers with impressive stats of 7 overs, 4 maidens and 2 for 17. Other than this, most bowlers copped a bit of stick. Some even went for more than 10 an over….. looking at you Dave 😉
Now, I missed the game due to my old man calf, but from all reports Tommy took a bit of a spill in his 1st over. This apparently hindered him greatly in the field, so much so he couldn’t run, though I’ve been informed Earl refused to move from slip, so Tommy was forced to hobble around. As a team, what we have decided Tommy is a better batsman with one leg! From here on in we will be hitting that knee with a bat before he heads out in hope he can manage the heroics of this game.
Tommy and Al opened and the boys started with a bang. They had an opening stand of 128, with Al being caught for 34, 2 balls before drinks. Tommy was having a great time and belted 154 off only 105 deliveries. This included 14 fours and 13 sixes! Monitoring on the App it looked unbelievable, and from the comments from the boys it bloody well was. Congrats Tommy, and your mum up there would have been smiling down at you from ear to ear. The second wicket dropped at 199 and it looked like we were home and hosed….but that’s not how we operate at Tech.
We then lost Andrew for a Golden duck, Mick followed soon after for 1, then Craig, who had been up the other end watching fours and sixes, then wicket and another wicket, went for 11 of 31. Luckily Drew came in and steadied the ship with 13 off 11 balls and Kale lasting 3 balls for his 1 run to scrape in with 4 balls to spare.
Yet again the fines did well, the standouts being Mick who dropped 3 catches, and Blayno and Dave getting thumped for more than 15 in one over.
Its up against the competition leaders this week, time to start getting on a roll.

Well round 2 left us with an impressive two from two.... losses. It’s all about consistency early on in the season.

This game came down to the wire and we were very unlucky to lose it. Some T20 umpiring cost us 17 in wides, which is a huge difference, but a loss is a loss and we'll go again this weekend.

We batted 1st and managed to scrape to 122 off 34 overs.
There was a great opening stand of 38, until one of the boofheads couldn't work out how to call and run between wickets. Andrew Victor got stranded and run out. Al (I have pottery class) went on to make a very impressive 66 runs launching the ball to all parts of the ground. Mick (Big d*ck mick) strode to the crease and continued his form from last week scoring 21 before being caught out by an absolute blinder of a catch. The bloke still hasn’t seen it!
After that it was dismal to say the least. My (Loves a kiss) start to the season got off to a flyer with a 3rd ball duck. Brendan (King Quack) continued his defence of a 3rd straight year of getting the duck award with his second quacker for the season. Not to be outdone, Gary strode to the crease only to be sent packing with is 2nd golden duck and is throwing up the gauntlet to King Quack. The race is on!
Port Stephens commenced the run chase losing wickets on a regular basis, but scraped home with 9 wickets down after 32 overs.
Tommy had his 1st bowl of the season and opened up finishing with 2 for 18 off his 7. It was a great spell and deserved more than the 2 wickets as they continuously played and missed and found the gaps with some ordinary lofted prods. I was bought on to open from the other end to confuse the opposition with my non spinning off spin, that actually did spin, which then confused me. I finished with 1 for 18 before doing the old man injury and tearing a calf. Some harden up concrete is needed asap!
Big d*ck Mick continued his fine game with an impressive 2 for 21 off 7 overs, 7 of those runs being some very harsh calls of wide. Maybe the umpire needed a bit of loving from the Big……?
Mick Tantos (Always man of the match) also chimed in grabbing 2 for 20, copping 5 wides against him as well.
A shout out goes to Andrew Victor snatching 4 catches in great all-round show of wicket keeping.
On a positive, the fines continue to grow!
Bring on this weekend against our mates from Wallsend. Hopefully we get on the board and get the season underway.

The Fire Station Hotel - Wallsend, NSW 14/10/2024

Well round one kicked off, but it appears we didn't!

A bit of a slow start with the bat saw us bundled out for a very sad looking 78 runs.

It was a great first showing by our 3 new players, 2 going for golden ducks and the other managed to smashed out a handy 2 runs. Welcome to the fine sheet boys lol

The new lads have thrown down the gauntlet to our resident "King Quack” Brendan Kiley who has owned the duck award for the past two seasons. Not to be outdone, “King Quack" did offer up a duck as well, but lasted a handy 5 deliveries. All up there were 4 ducks and a not out zero.
Special mention goes to Big D*ck Mick Harrison for his score of 33.

The bowlers started off in a positive manner with "Billy Bowden" Ned Kelly bowling 4 overs for only 3 runs, and "Rolf Harris" Drew Moffat bowling 5 overs and getting 1 for 3. After that things went pear-shaped with Nelson Bays no4 bat smashing 36 runs off 13 balls.

Nelson Bay ended up having little trouble of chasing down the total, finishing at 2 -80.

The one positive to come out of the game was that 8 fines were given out, including one for myself, "loves a good kiss" Martin Bigg receiving one for going to a rodeo instead of playing cricket. Harsh, but fair.

Round 2 we come up against Port Stephens, hopefully the batting and bowling can match the fines this time round.

Round 1 kicks off this week and we are up against Nelson Bay.

Not sure how many runs we'll score, or if we'll get wickets..... but I can guarantee there will be numerous fines and the drop catch jesters hat will get worn out.
