I spent four years at uni, became a fully qualified sports journalist, finished at 22… and then ended up working on a gym floor thinking, “Is this actually what I want my life to look like?”
My dad has always supported me massively, but one thing he said completely changed how I looked at work. He basically made me zoom out and ask: if I keep doing this for the next 5, 10, 20 years… where does it actually take me?
Not just “do I enjoy this today?” but can this life support the future I want? Can I provide for a family? Give my kids opportunities? Have freedom? Travel? Help my parents? Build something bigger than just earning by the hour?
That question forced me to stop thinking only about what felt comfortable right now and start thinking about the person I wanted to become.
It’s a big reason I took a risk on coaching, business and building Prime Train instead of just staying on the safe path.
Sometimes the best advice isn’t “follow your passion.”
Sometimes it’s: zoom out and ask where this path actually leads. ❤️
