Blake Moxon and Aidan Wilson fly to Melbourne on 29 September for the National State Championships. Here's the unglamorous part.
Representing a state costs a family real money: the team levy, the uniform, 800km to Melbourne, six nights of accommodation and meals. Two families, two lots of it, in the same week.
So we're raising $6,300 through the Australian Sports Foundation, shared equally between the two boys. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible β€” the Sports Foundation is a registered deductible gift recipient, and you'll get a receipt you can claim.
You can give right now, from your phone:

WPCW Season Launch + Fundraiser Saturday 19th September- https://facebook.com/events/s/water-polo-central-west-season/1052730807539323/

Meet Blake Moxon β€” ACT U15 Boys.

Blake picked up a water polo ball for the first time at the Big Orange in 2024. Three years later he's off to a national championships. That is quick β€” quicker than anyone expected, including him.
Since his first season outside Orange he has represented Country NSW at the U13 National Development Carnival in Hobart, played the NSW State Club Championships and the NSW Country Club Championships, and lined up in U14 Gold Division at the Australian Youth Championships. That's where the ACT program saw him, invited him to trial, and selected him in the U15 Boys.
He turned 14 in May, so he goes to Melbourne as a bottom-age player β€” a year younger than most of the side.
He's swum with Orange Aquatic Club for three years, and none of the rest of it has happened in Orange. Every one of those competitions has meant a drive to Canberra or a flight further, and his family have simply made the trips so he can keep playing.
Come and send him off on Saturday 19 September. πŸ‘

WPCW Season Launch + Fundraiser Saturday 19th September- https://facebook.com/events/s/water-polo-central-west-season/1052730807539323/

Meet Aidan Wilson β€” ACT U17 Boys.
Earlier this year Aidan was named in the Australian U/18 National Squad as a bottom-age athlete β€” a year or more younger than most of the squad around him. He was in the U/16 squad the year before. Most players never get near either.
Melbourne will be his fourth National State Championships in a row. State sides draft players from outside their own borders to round out a squad, and Aidan has been picked up four years running.
The part worth knowing is what came first. He started with the Orange Water Dragons in 2019, played the Big Orange, and joined Orange Aquatic Club in 2022 because his swimming needed the work. That same year he trained a full season with a state program and wasn't selected for a single representative team. He came back the next year, worked harder, and earned the first of the four.
He's 201cm, which is hard to miss in a pool. It's the sprint start that gets him noticed.
Come and give him a send-off on Saturday 19 September. πŸ‘

It's locked in. Water Polo Central West launches the 2026–27 season on Saturday 19 September, from 6:00pm, at the Orange City Bowling Club Auditorium β€” and we'd like the whole town there.
WPCW came together in late 2025, part-way through the summer season, so our first season had already started before we had a chance to mark it. This one we get to begin properly.
The same night, we're sending off two of our own. Aidan Wilson and Blake Moxon have both been selected to represent the ACT at the 2026 National State Championships in Melbourne, 29 September to 3 October β€” ten days after the launch. We'll be raising money towards what it costs to get them there.
More on both boys over the next fortnight.
πŸ“ OCBC Auditorium, 61–89 Warrendine Street, Orange
πŸ•• From 6:00pm for 6.30pm start, Saturday 19th September
🍽 Light finger food provided from 6pm β€” you can order from the bistro if you wish β€” and the Club bar is open all night!
🎟 Free entry! But please RSVP so we can lock in numbers for the club.
βœ‰οΈ RSVP by Saturday 5 September β€” https://www.revolutionise.com.au/wpcw/events/376213 or message this page or email [email protected]
Everyone welcome. Bring the family.

AND THE SEASON AHEAD

Training nights, come-and-try and registrations are being finalised now, and we'll have all of it for you on the night along with what the club is planning for the year. If you know a family who has been thinking about giving water polo a go, the 19th is the night to bring them β€” they'll meet the whole club at once.

See you on the 19th. πŸ₯³
