The last Saturday of August saw the running of the Greg Diener trophy 🏆.
A good roll up on the day but it was that man Brenton Byrne who went home with the winners prize once again. He has had a tremendous winter 18 hole season and is playing some really good golf. Congratulations 🥳
There was a few players who got within 6 points but on the day that was just window dressing. Daryl Dow got the long drive and fewest putts 🥂
There was a social 9 played as well and it was an in form G Diener that took the chocolates in that one.
Four golfers went to Trangie for their open on Sunday. A great day and a credit to Trangie golf club for putting on a fantastic day. Greg Diener got a runner up prize in the b grade and continues his good form in the open tournaments.
This Saturday sees the Harold Payseno memorial golf day. The course looks a treat and is ready to go. Thanks again Diet! Might be a bit of wind around but will just add to the challenge. It’s a three person Ambrose event so a great format for any golfing ability. Hope to see a big crowd there.
Tee off will be from 11:30 so get there by 11 to sort out teams. There will be a feed on after the golf.

Round 2 of the AEH sand greens trilogy was held in conjunction with the very successful Peak Hill Open, with a total of 106 players competing on the day.

The top 41 players listed are no doubt ready to attack the Bogan Gate course on September 13, which I understand is looking in top order.

In the scratch, it is tight. Jono Baker from Caragabal is leading, closely followed by Robert Hey, who is always in contention, and Blake Dennis from Trangie looks determined in third. The very impressive junior from Manildra, Angus Griffith, is just behind. The other players in the top ten are a good chance. Trundle and ex-Peak Hill player Luke Watt is my tip to run up the leaderboard, as well as the evergreen Doc Smith from Tottenham.

Now to the handicap event: young Cameron Strudwick from Trundle is out in front, great effort. Unfortunately, Austin Randall, another great junior from Trundle, may not play in Bogan Gate; I hope this is incorrect. Trundle's go-to man, Ryan Burley, looks ready for the challenge as well . But Albert's Greg Baker, fresh off his Trangie victory last Sunday, is my dark horse in this event. Also, Albert's Neville Jones, the quiet achiever, is playing great golf as well. Condo's local swimming pool caretaker Sam Thompson is a keen trilogy golfer and is by no means out of a placing. And never count out Peak Hill's handicapper, secretary, Club Captain, etc., Timothy Bell.

See all, at Bogan gate, Don McKeown and Steve Edwards have asked with the numbers expected please get your names in and a great help would be if anyone would like to start early let Don or Steve know.

Well the PHGC open championship has been done and won so congratulations to all prize getters.

I would just like to say a big thank you to all who mowed, raked, working bee toiled, cooked, cleaned , organised, counted and generally just helped to make the day happen.

A big thanks to all who travelled for a game and a great social day out. 108 players!! A great effort by all.

Trangie open this Sunday and I can vouch it’s a great day out.

This weekend sees the Greg Diener trophy 🏆 up for grabs and is always a great one to get with huge prizes on offer. 18 hole stableford for all.
Greens have been restored after some heavy rain but are ready to go (thanks Todd)

Also a reminder that Saturday the 5th of September will be the Harold Payseno memorial trophy 🏆 which will be a three person Ambrose event kicking off at 11 am. It a fun day and great for all levels of golfers.

The 2026 Peak Hill Open Allan Stain memorial was held on Sun 23rd Aug under magnificent conditions and a record field for recent years. 108 ladies and men players competed in beautiful Spring like weather on a course which has benefited from recent rains with good grass cover and little run making playing conditions just that more challenging. Players and volunteers enjoyed a fabulous lunch prepared by Daneille Diener which topped off the day out. Players travelled from Caragabal, West Wyalong, Manildra, Molong, Wellington, Forbes, Parkes, Dubbo, Yeoval, Narromine, Trangie, Tottenham, Albert, Nyngan, Condo, Bogan Gate and Trundle to much to the delight of the Peak Hill Club. Men’s results as follows: A Grade Scratch winner – Blake Dennis with a score of 72 from Trangie. A Grade scratch runner up – Joe Ryan from Wellington. A Grade Handicap winner – PJ Edwards from Albert. A Grade H/cap runner up – Greg Matheson from Nyngan. A Grade Stableford winner – Matt Brown from Narromine. B Grade scratch winner – Tim Bell Peak Hill, B Grade Scratch R/up – Greg Diener from Peak Hill, B Grade Handicap winner – John Lees from Tottenham, B Grade H/cap R/up – Nigel Davies from Caragabal, B Grade Stableford winner – Peter Barnes from Forbes. C Grade Scratch winner – Cameron Strudwick from Trundle, C Grade scratch R/up – Jay Horsburgh from Trundle, C Grade Handicap winner - Neville Jones from Albert, C Grade H/cap R/up – Col Britt from Bogan Gate, C Grade Stableford winner – Sam Horsburgh from Trundle. Junior champion was Angus Griffith from Manildra (pictured with Peak Hill Captain and President Tim and Murray). Angus was only 2 strokes off the winning scratch score of the day with a 74 so congratulations to Angus.

Saturday the 15th saw a stableford event held at the PHGC and on a nice winters day we had a great roll up for the day.
11 players teed off and it was obvious early that the man to catch was Greg Diener. With consistent play and the odd chip in he ended up carding a 77 off the stick for a 40 point total. 19 putts is always going to be hard to beat and a great effort on the sand.
Brenton Byrne was runner up on a count back from Tim Bell. Brenton also got the long drive.

Friday 14th we had a working bee and a good turn out of club members saw a lot of work done and the course has come up a treat. Thanks to everyone who turned up. The results will be on show on Sunday and we all should be very proud of what our little club has achieved !

Tomorrow there will be a 9 hole warm up game for those who want to join in from 10:30 - 11am and then we will finish off giving everything a final going over to make sure we are right for Sunday. Diet has mowed the course twice in the last two weeks and you won’t see it looking any better!

Open day Sunday. Sun 🌞 will be shining and a top of 18 degrees so conditions should be perfect. Any members who can help out are asked to be at the club by 8am.
