Introducing Coach Diego Maroja Falcão – Head Coach, Sunshine Coast Fire Basketball
We are incredibly excited to welcome the Sunshine Coast Fire Academy into our Junior NBL program — and even more excited to introduce their Head Coach!
🌏 Coach Diego is an internationally renowned basketball coach with 20+ years of experience across Africa, Japan, and Brazil. He has also coached with the Brazilian Olympic Basketball Team, bringing world-class expertise straight to our Sunshine Coast kids.
Based at Peregian Beach College, Coach Diego leads the Fire Academy and will be working alongside the Slammers throughout our JNR NBL competition.

“At this age, basketball isn’t our main priority — it’s simply the reason we get to work with them.

“Shaquille O’Neal and Magic Johnson.
But the greatest of all time? Michael Jordan — basketball became famous because of him.”

“Botafogo-PB, my hometown team in Brazil! Football (soccer) is our biggest sport culturally.”
🍽️ Favourite food?
“Easy — Brazilian churrasco (barbecue) and feijoada! Nothing beats our traditional dishes.”
