Miss Pepper Sews

was on last night - I love this opportunity to dress up and have a night out admiring everyone’s fantastic creations - there were some amazing outfits again this year! Very happy with how my turned out, made with this pretty border print. I modified the dress a little, extending the pleated bust panel so it was a couple of cms higher, shortening the sleeves, and making it tea length rather than just above my knees. Very easy pattern to sew, and a perfect fit!

Wow, I blinked and somehow it was February 😂 My apologies for a lack of posts lately, I had every intention of wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, but ended up sew busy that it just didn’t happen 😞

December ended up being crazy, with sewing for my wonderful customers and working part time as well, I didn’t get the sewing machines out at all during January as I took a little break from the sewing to sort my fabric stash (there is still a lot, despite donating a fair amount when I moved in September), and I’m about to start a full-time temp job that will limit my sewing time for the next few months at least.

I will be sewing when I can, mostly on the weekends, but for now I will be limiting it to existing customers only (might need to sneak in some office wear for myself too 😂), and there may be some delay while I get into a routine and work out how to fit everything in - if you know you need something for an event a month or two away, I suggest contacting me sooner rather than later 😉

I’ll leave you with these photos of Kat, wearing a fully reversible wrap around skirt in the first photo (of course we forgot to take a photo of the other side 🙄) and a gorgeous tiered dress (which has huge inseam pockets). Kat has headed off to Honduras to volunteer as a teacher for a few months and needed comfy wash & wear clothes to take, and these certainly fit the bill!

I always like a challenge, especially recreating things like costumes. I was asked to make a shirt for the lead singer of a local Dire Straits tribute band recently, I think that turned out pretty well! (Photos in action were taken by Ken Langdale PerthMusic1 at the British Rock Royalty gig at Port Beach Brewery on Saturday night.) I was lucky enough to win a voucher for at a couple of weeks ago. Had no idea which fabric to pick, there are so many gorgeous ones, so decided to pick a mystery remnant pack and see what turned up 😂 I’m not sorry that I did - it’s all gorgeous ❤️

Got it done, and with time to spare! Lovely evening out at - can’t wait to do it again next year (might even be more organised and not leave my outfit to the last minute, no promises though 😉).

Mmmm… donuts 🍩🍩🍩. What shall I do with them? I have two metres of this sports performance fabric, perfect for shorts, capris, tights, skorts, crop tops, maybe even a jacket 🤔

Well, that took a lot longer than expected, but I finally have everything set up in my new place and can get onto the sewing again! I’ve turned this cupboard (that I got free from marketplace) into a “Murphy desk/sewing storage cupboard, it takes about two minutes to set it up ready to sew, and can be packed away just as quickly at the end of the day. Still have a lot of stuff to label properly but suspect I’ll be tweaking things for a little while yet, so will leave that job for another day 😂 And yes. I still have plenty of fabric to choose from if you want something made, including some Christmas sports performance prints, perfect for summer running shorts 😉

I’m currently in the middle of moving. Today’s task is to find spots for this pile of stuff, and to collect the rest of my sewing room from the old place - taking bets on how many carloads that will take 😂 Downsizing considerably so having to get creative with storage, hoping that a suitable studio may be found before too long though - not that I’m very keen to move all my stash again 😂 I am hoping to be all sorted by the end of this long weekend and be ready to get stuck into sewing again on Tuesday 🤞

My knitting needles were all randomly thrown in a box and I struggled to find matching pairs, let alone the size I needed for a project! Problem solved with my new needle storage roll!

I've got a busy week ahead, with a pile of custom orders to get through... snuck in a little something for me this evening though - finally all my knitting needles are organised! If only I could say the same for the rest of the house 😁 - moving next week, downsizing considerably, and no idea how I'm going to fit my fabric stash in (not to mention the books, the yarn, and all the general household stuff 🤣 #knitting #knittingstorage #sewing

I know it's only July, but if you have school aged kids and will be looking for teacher gifts later in the year, you might like to consider something like a tote bag or apron or similar... these prints are currently available as part of the latest Missy Rose Fabrics pre-order, they won't arrive until late October/early November, but I cannot guarantee that I can gety hands on these prints later if they aren't pre-ordered before the end of July.
