If I was just ten seconds earlier I could have saved this carrot from a grizzly fate. But seriously, the damage I am seeing from these pigs is the worst I have seen in a very long time. Such a painful block to shoot. Very sandy and not many safe places to stop. This pig was a 1600m round trip on foot through the crop.

Winter was good to these guys. Perfect time of the year to harvest some before they start getting a bit underweight.

Slowly slowly catchy monkey. Pigs are tentatively poking around the trap. The suckers and mob pigs are in and out with zero hesitation. Once the older wiser pigs come in and commit to the trap we'll set it and hopefully catch the majority of the resident mobs. The damage they're causing to this season's crops is insane.

A few suckling pig sized pigs getting about this week. Traps are all re-baited with fresh bait. One or two weeks to see what else comes in and we'll set the traps.

This is the type of response we like to get.

Pigs are back.

Really enjoying the hikmicro alpex 4k LRF. I'm so impressed with how it performs.

OK team, I need some advice.

I have just purchased additional pig traps as the pigs are due back on a couple of blocks imminently.

All of my trail cameras run off 4G, however after telstra removed the 3G towers I have lost 4G at these farms as well.

I do have access to free starlink internet on top of a hill at a tall shed. Several traps are within 1km of that processing shed. There may be trees between them and the shed.

What are my options?

I'm not keen to run cables.

I'm fine with replacing my 4g cameras with wifi ones if that's required.

I really don't want to have my own subscription as these several traps are the only ones not in 4G range.

Please note: computers and I are not friends. So if you have some advice, please treat me like a child and dumb everything down for me. If you add links to where to purchase equipment you recommend you get bonus points.

Thanks 😊

For those who regularly climb barbed wire fences I am told that a small sheet of tank liner plastic rolled up in a bit of PVC in the ute tray is quite handy to drape over the wires. I still haven't gotten around to getting some but I think about it every time I cut myself, rip my jeans or get snagged and take a tumble.

This is the "target" I use to check zero on my thermal scopes. The globe has an 8mm diameter. So to connect with it at 100m I need to be hitting a 4mm radius. I shoot a 5 shot group at the heat signature and then place a second globe at the centre of the grouping I just created. Freeze the scope on the original target and drive the reticle to the new globe. I can also measure the distance and manually add that to the scope but I find it easier this way. I blow away quite a few globes lol. I think I'll try putting power into a resistor or something and seeing if that produces the right heat. The amount of glass is beyond minimal and it no doubt shatters to nothing, but I reckon there's a better way.

Mutualism.

I remove pests for the farmer and enjoy tasty free range meat.

Excess rabbits are sold for a decent $ to the processors.

I'll never get tired of rabbit shooting. The only better way to get them is with sighthounds or ferrets.

But unfortunately we almost live in a communist state and doing natural things is criminalised.

Better to use poison oats with pindone that haemorrhage them painfully from the inside out over an average period of 8 days according to our lords and masters.

So we'll stick to shooting.

I picked up a hikmicro alpex 4K with LRF recently. I am very impressed with it so far.
