To continue our Interview series we have a young collector with a very early and special jumper to contribute to the book. Vale Neil Turner (1950-2025).
It was an absolute honour to speak with Neil last year, as part of the process of putting The Fibre of Freo together. Neil's design legacy stretches back decades, and his fingerprints are on icons including the modern Boxing Kangaroo - which his studio designed for Bond Corporation during the Australia II's triumphant 1983 America's Cup campaign - and the original Fremantle Dockers home jumper. Engaged in secret to design a new jumper ahead of the 1995 season, Neil is credited with putting the purple in Freo. As he told it, he was inspired to do so by the colour of the sun-faded blue singlets worn on the docks at Fremantle Port. The rest is history. What a remarkable legacy.

Our thoughts are with the Turner family at this difficult time.
