Hi All - just a quick announcement that like many people, I’m scaling and moving my social media. This account will be closing and likely my personal account on FB. For now, instagram will remain. I’ve started Bluesky with same handle as usual https://bsky.app/profile/docsoph.bsky.social but deciding on where and how to engage more broadly. It won’t be here.

Research from Dawn Penney and Ruth Jeanes has changed the landscape of how we view with evidence of its health and social impact.
The impact of our changing way of sport participation, adding urban sports, modified sports, self-organised participation, all noted in the The Future of Australian Sport. The second report: Megatrends shows the evolving nature of the sports sector over coming decades!
However, participation in has social and systemic barriers: including information about use of and being unavailable or difficult for some members of communities to access.
We also know that many girls and women are seemingly far less inclined to self-organise sport participation in and within their .
In response, researchers at Edith Cowan University are investigating forms of messaging that connect with girls and women, counter their hesitancies about getting involved in sport, and encourage them to own and use public spaces and facilities for informal sport participation.
This survey invites input from and in who want to see more opportunities to enjoy informal sport participation in their communities.
Women and girls 16 years of age or older? We would love to hear your participation experiences and views!

Hi Everyone, I am looking for your support:
We are in the final countdown to the HBF Health Run for a Reason on Sunday, May 19th in . This year, I joined the Edith Cowan University team to raise funds for our Inspiring Minds Equity Scholarship Fund.
The intent, to remove barriers for our students to deliver equity of opportunity to access higher education.
I have leveraged presenting at a few conferences to help spread the word and after reaching my first goal of raising $2100 (or $100 for every kilometre I will run while entering my first 1/2 marathon), I am keen to see if I can get to $3K (AUD) by Sunday, May 19th!
Therefore, I'm asking, if you've benefited (or just believe in the cause) from any of the materials, ideas or presentations I've been able to deliver over the past 10 weeks, can you consider donating for the cause I am passionate about!
Using to create , be it through fundraising here or my usual, in the opportunity sport may provide to help people realise their full .

Hi Everyone I am trying to fundraise (at least) $2100 to help lower the financial hurdle for students at ECU! As part of the FIFA Medical Conference 2024, I have the opportunity to present on the topic “The Epidemic” in the myth-busting in football session.
To be able to contribute to this conference that brings the world together with representatives from the 211 member federations brings the enormity of this together in my mind.
I am looking forward to presenting the current evidence in women’s football and is there a sudden rise in acl injuries? Is the story told about this injury in women in need of an alternative hypothesis? Some myth-busting with a side of re-thinking and curiosity to come!
For those that would like to follow the conference it is currently live streamed here: As part of the FIFA Medical Conference 2024, I have the opportunity to present on the topic “The Epidemic” in the myth-busting in football session.
