Very excited to be able to share this.

Is your spine stiff in rotation? Use your breath to help.

Try an exhale as you turn. Imagine you’re wringing the air out of your lungs the way you’d wring water out of a sponge.

A sponge won’t twist properly if it’s full of water. Let the water out first.

Once you’re in the rotated position, pause and inhale, using the breath to expand your rib cage and increase the stretch from the inside. Exhale to return.

Try it out on this or any other rotation exercise, and let me know how you go 😊

Happy Pilates Day 🩷

I spent today doing two of my favourite things. I taught a mat class, and then joined a continuing education workshop on Zoom with one of my favourite Pilates people, Dav Cohen.

Even after more than 30 years, I still consider myself a student.

That is what I value most about Pilates. There is always more to learn, and always another way to refine what you are doing.

Wherever you are in your Pilates practice, I hope you keep finding something new in it.
