Meet Our New Aquatic Sport Committee Chairs

Life Saving Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of four experienced leaders to Chair key Aquatic Sport committees:
David Pavia – Powercraft Committee
Tamara Brawn – Rules & Integrity Committee
Samantha Pownall – IRB Committee
Mike McGrath – Pool Committee

David, Tamara, Samantha and Mike each bring extensive experience, strong technical knowledge and a genuine commitment to the continued growth of aquatic sport in Victoria.

Working with the Aquatic Sport Council Leadership Team, the Chairs will lead their respective committees, provide specialist advice and help strengthen the way aquatic sport is governed and delivered.

Their appointments are an important step in renewing the Aquatic Sport committee structure and delivering the Life Saving Victoria Sport Strategy 2025–2028.

Congratulations to David, Tamara, Samantha and Mike. We look forward to seeing the experience, ideas and leadership they bring to their new roles.

Expressions of interest for the IRB Committee and Pool Committee will be released next week.

We would love to hear from members who want to contribute their knowledge, represent the broader lifesaving community and help shape the future of aquatic sport in Victoria.

📣 Help shape the future of Pathways & Performance in Victoria! 📣

Life Saving Victoria is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced members to join the Athlete Pathways & Performance Committee, a committee of the Aquatic Sports Council.

The committee will help strengthen athlete development and performance pathways across Victorian lifesaving sport and oversee the selection of Victorian representative teams.

LSV is seeking expressions of interest for up to five committee member positions, in addition to the appointed Chair and CEO Delegate. We are looking for people who know and love lifesaving sport and want to help Victorian athletes develop and succeed.

🇦🇺 WIELAND SHIELD 2027 - Athletes EOI Open 🇺🇸

Expressions of Interest are now open for athletes to be a part of the 2027 Wieland Shield competition.

This is an exciting opportunity to represent your state against California’s best!

Since 1967, the Los Angeles County Lifeguards and Life Saving Victoria have been exchanging competitive and educational tours on a bi-annual basis. A perpetual trophy for competition between Life Saving Victoria and Californian teams was awarded during the visit of the USA team to Australia in 1967. The trophy, made from Victorian red gum wood, is retained by the winning team until the next opportunity comes up for competition between Victoria and the United States.

On Saturday 17 October the Age Manager technical skills and coaching workshops will be conducted by LSV’s Nipper and Sport Team at Lakes Entrance SLSC.

A practical upskill session for new and current age managers covering off on
teaching technical skills, setting the tone/culture/vibe for Nippers, setting ground rules/structure, tailoring to different needs, engagement & challenging situations, resources. This is an interactive session sharing and talking about what clubs want to achieve in their Nippers programs. At the same time achieve a Foundation Coach accreditation.

What a great day of learning and development at the LSV winter workshop
on the weekend.

The sessions included:

Advanced Ski with Jamo

A fantastic opportunity for athletes to learn new skills and fine-tune techniques.

Big thanks to everyone who got involved and to our coaches for sharing their knowledge and experience.
A great pre-season opportunity with lots learnt and lots to take into the season! 💪🌊
