Riding to Parliament: Sydney's Ride2Work Day 2026

National Ride2Work Day is Australia’s biggest celebration of everyday cycling, and this year we hit the streets of Sydney to show exactly why commuting by bike is the best way to travel.

In this under-5-minute cut, I take you along a fast-paced morning commute navigating Sydney's growing network of separated cycleways and shared paths. Along the way, we catch up with the President of Bicycle NSW—the state's peak advocacy group actively pushing for safer, more connected infrastructure. The morning wraps up with a community gathering and a well-earned celebration cup of tea right outside Parliament House.

Ride2Work Day is all about encouraging new riders to give active transport a go, while highlighting the local Sydney initiatives that make it possible—from pop-up bike breakfasts and community group rides to the ongoing rollout of dedicated commuter cycleways.

I’ve carved down an hour of raw footage to bring you the absolute best 10 minutes of the Spring Cycle. Riding Spring Cycle this Sunday, 11 October? Please be aware that planned train trackwork may affect your journey to and from the event.

Disruptions are scheduled across parts of the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line, South Coast Line and services between Parramatta and Olympic Park.

We have been working closely with Transport for NSW to identify alternative travel options and provide practical guidance to help you plan your journey.

Travelling from the South Coast or Illawarra? Consider driving to a station along the T8 Airport & South Line, such as Revesby, and continuing by train towards North Sydney.

Travelling from the Blue Mountains or Western Sydney? Consider travelling via Blacktown or driving to Sydney Olympic Park and connecting with trains towards North Sydney.

We have put together more detailed travel information, including suggested routes and Transport for NSW journey planning links, to help you plan your trip to the start and your journey home.
