Ouch! That final score hurt… just a little 😂.
Our U12 White Dingos came up against a highly skilled and experienced A Grade team, and wow, did they give us a masterclass in basketball.
The opposition had incredible shooting, elite passing and some seriously impressive plays that were just too good for our boys on the day.
We knew this was going to be a tough one, but what impressed us most was how our boys responded. They played hard, stayed composed and kept pushing right until the final buzzer. No dropped heads, no tears, and at the post-game debrief, they were still smiling and in positive spirits. THAT is something to be proud of!
For a young team who are new to this level of basketball, there were still some really lovely moments out there. Glimpses of skill, teamwork and potential that have us excited for what's ahead. The scoreboard might not have reflected it, but there was plenty of heart, grit and growth on that court.
There’s a lesson here, and to borrow a little wisdom from Steph Curry, playing against teams that are too closely matched to your ability can keep you stagnant and in your comfort zone.
With the majority of our boys coming off an undefeated U10 season, our goal isn’t just to keep winning. It’s to keep growing, developing and pushing ourselves to the next level. We don’t get better by only playing teams we know we can beat. It’s when we’re challenged that we’re forced to adapt, learn and innovate.
We see playing stronger, more experienced teams as an opportunity. These are the games that challenge us to become better, not just as players and as a team, but as young men too. We’re playing the long game, and we know we’ll get there. It’s not a matter of if, but when.💪
