Why Strength Matters for Fat Loss
π₯ Trying to lose body fat? Don't forget your muscles.
When people want to lose weight, they often focus entirely on cardio and eating less.
But resistance training can help you maintain muscle while losing body fat.
That's important because the goal isn't simply:
β 'Weigh less.'
The goal is often:
β
Lose fat while maintaining as much muscle as possible.
ποΈ Lift weights.
π₯© Eat enough protein.
π² Create an appropriate calorie deficit.
βοΈ Be patient.

β€οΈβπ₯ Warm-Ups

β€οΈ Cardiovascular system
𦡠Muscles
𦴠Joints
π§ Nervous system
Try 5-10 minutes of:
β‘οΈ Light cardio
β‘οΈ Dynamic movements
β‘οΈ Mobility work
β‘οΈ Exercise-specific warm-up sets
Don't go from sitting at your desk for 8 hours straight into your heaviest squat. Give your body a chance to wake up first

ποΈ The βPerfectβ Workout
There is no perfect workout. The best workout is the one that:
β
Matches your goals
β
Fits your current fitness level
β
You enjoy enough to repeat
β
Challenges you appropriately
β
You can recover from
A 30-minute workout you consistently complete beats a 'perfect' 90-minute workout you keep skipping. Consistency beats perfection.
Every. Single. Time.

What Is Progressive Overload?
Want to get stronger? You need progressive overload. That doesn't necessarily mean adding more weight every workout.
You can progress by:
π Increasing weight
π’ Doing more reps
π€ΉββοΈ Improving technique
πββ Increasing range of motion
β³ Reducing rest time
Your body adapts to what you repeatedly ask it to do.
So if you want continued results... Give it a reason to adapt. πͺ

Sleep & Weight Loss
Want better results? Start taking sleep seriously. Poor sleep can make everything harder - including managing hunger, energy, motivation and training performance.
Aim for around 7-9 hours where possible. A few simple strategies:
π Keep a consistent bedtime
π± Reduce screens before bed
β Limit late-day caffeine
ποΈββοΈ Train regularly
π Make your bedroom cool and dark
Your body doesn't just recover when you're sitting on the couch. A lot of the important work happens while you're asleep.

Stop Chasing the Scales
Your body weight isn't the only measure of progress. We love a good weigh-in... but it doesn't tell the whole story.
Look for:
πͺ Increased strength
π Better fitness
π Clothes fitting differently
π Improved performance
π΄ Better sleep
π₯ More energy
π§ββοΈ Better mobility
π Improved confidence
Your body can change significantly without the scales dramatically changing. Don't let one number determine whether you're succeeding.

Strength Training After 40
Strength training becomes MORE important as we get older - not less.
As we age, maintaining muscle strength can help support:
β
Independence
β
Bone health
β
Balance
β
Metabolism
β
Everyday movement
β
Quality of life
You don't need to lift enormous weights. You need to challenge your muscles consistently and progressively. Strong isn't just about looking good. Strong helps you live better.

π₯DOMS doesn't equal results.
Being incredibly sore after training isn't proof that you had a great workout.
Muscle soreness can happen when you:
ποΈββοΈ Try a new exercise
π Increase training volume
π₯ Increase intensity
πͺ Challenge muscles in a different way
But progress comes from consistent training and adaptation, not from struggling to sit on the toilet for three days. Think about always progressing a little each session, rather than going all-out. Slow is fast and fast is slow!
Train hard. But don't forget to recover harder with proper rest and nutrition.

πΆββοΈπΆββοΈWalking Counts!
Walking is underrated. You don't need to smash yourself with HIIT every day to improve your health.
Regular walking can help increase your daily energy expenditure, improve cardiovascular health, support recovery and simply get you moving more.
Try this:
β‘ Park further away
β‘ Walk while taking a phone call
β‘ Take a 10-minute walk after dinner
β‘ Aim for more steps than you currently get
Your workout is important. But what you do during the other 23 hours of the day matters too.
