We often assume the people closest to us know what we want... but do they?
Perhaps the question that comes even before that is: Do we know what we want?
When it comes to our future, our health, our finances, or the way we'd like to be cared for, many of us have never really stopped to think about what matters most.
Dying to Know Week is a reminder that these conversations aren't just about the end of life. They're about understanding ourselves, sharing what's important, and making it easier for the people we love if they ever need to make decisions on our behalf.
Sometimes the greatest gift we can leave isn't certainty—it's clarity.
This week, we mark Dying to Know Week, including Dying to Know Day on 8 August. Dying to Know Week encourages us to have open and honest conversations about death, dying and grief, and to share our wishes for the end of life.
This year’s theme, “Nobody Knows: The Secret I’m Glad I Shared”, reminds us that the people closest to us may not know what matters most unless we tell them.
Start the conversation today. Share your wishes, choices and those little secrets that matter to you, so there are fewer unknowns and no regrets. You might also consider completing an Advance Care Plan to help others understand your preferences if you are unable to communicate them in the future.
