Our Kids River Fishing Comp is on tomorrow! We can not wait to meet the 100 junior anglers who will hit the Mooloolah River for a fun day of fishing!

This day would not be possible without our amazing sponsors Kawana Flooring, PNG Surfaris and Tackle World Kawana Waters.

A huge shoutout also goes to the GFAA and the KidsFish2 Program for providing some great goody bags and a Shimano Rod and Reel for every angler.

A huge shoutout goes to Jasmine Leticia Wegert, our BBQ Champion, who not only organised this whole thing and bought all the supplies but worked the whole day to make sure it was a success. Where would we be without you!

And of course a massive thank you to our volunteers, Kieren Edmonds, Josh Walton, Johan Venter and Scotty Ferguson who all put in massive shifts. We really do have amazing members 💙

Our next event will be our Kids River Fishing Comp on October 10 AND our Members night at ARB Maroochydore on October 14. We hope to see you there!

The Australian Government is reviewing management plans for Australia’s marine park networks and has also committed to expanding the area of Australian waters classified as “Highly Protected” to at least 30% by 2030. Meeting that target will require at least a further 523,980 km² of Australian waters to be declared no-fishing areas.

The Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation (ARFF) and the Game Fishing Association of Australia (GFAA) are leading a national campaign to protect recreational fishing access to important areas.

As passionate recreational and game fishers, it is imperative that we make our voices heard and ensure the Government has all relevant information when reviewing these management plans. Public consultation on these matters closes on 30 September 2026 so we must act now.

Add your details to the GFAA Marine Parks Submission by clicking the link and filling in the form at the bottom of the page.

The first order of business at our Presentation Picnic was to celebrate our Juniors who were honoured at the Queensland Game Fishing Association AGM a few weeks ago.

First, we passed on the certificates to our Junior Encouragement Award entrants, Lydia-Rose and Eli. While they didnt take out the trophy, we are still so proud of their efforts from last year.

Then it was on to handing out the amazing packs from QGFA for all the juniors who tag a fish in the season. This year, they came with a great certificate, a voucher for Anaconda and these gorgeous commemorative fishing shirts! Our boys couldn't wait to try them on and we've been told that they are their new favourit fishing shirt. Well done Eli, George, Soul, Finn and Lenix (not pictured).

And finally we could pass on the QGFA Champion Small Fry Male trophy to the wonderful Soul Starling.

We are so proud of all our kids from last season and they are all fired up to do it all again this year. We can't wait to see how they go!

Citizen Science at its best! Read this incredible story of the many hands and determination it required to gather some data on this Sailfish. 🎣

The QGFA AGM is on this weekend! Part of the Annual Presentation is the Queensland Game Fishing Assosciation Junior Encouragement Award. All Qld Clubs are invited to submit their juniors who have demonstrated the spirit of game fishing. I wish all the kids who have entered the best of luck, but I wanted to give a shout out to 2 of our very own amazing Junior Anglers. We nominated Eli Rohl and Lydia Rose Sense - 2 juniors who jave had completely different years, but have shown dedication, enthusiasm and a love of the sport all the same. Lydia Rose never missed an opportunity to fish. She is constantly on the water, trying her luck, and while she is yet to catch a marlin, her determination never wavers. We will all be celebrating when this amazing girl finally lands her first fish. And Eli was lucky enough to tag his first fish this season and hasn't stopped tagging them since. Inspiring enthusiasm and passion amongst all our junior (and senior) members, Elis attitude has been truly contagios this year. Good luck Kiddos!

📢 BABES ANNOUNCEMENT 📢
It is with absolute heartbreak to announce that Billfish Babes 2026 has been cancelled due to persistent bad weather. The committee has worked so hard to organise one of the biggest, best Babes comps this year and we are so sad we are not able to deliver it for you. We will be back again next year so keep your calendars clear!

We would like to thank our amazing sponsors who have shown us such amazing support through all the ups and downs. We are also very humbled by the interest and messages from keen anglers and skippers from across the country wanting to know the latest updates so they can move their entire lives around to make it work.

We are currently organising a Club BBQ under the tree near our clubhouse to still provide any local anglers with a chance to get together, meet new people and talk all things fishing! Please keep your eye out for the details 🩷
