My name is Brenden, I am an angler from Northern NSW, Australia. I will be sharing some of my journey here on Facebook as I fish for a range of species.

Z-Man Lures Australia | TT Fishing | Platypus Fishing Lines

Another toga from a recent trip up north 🔥 The lure of the day for fishing the edges was the TT Fishing 60mm Quake Vibe, rigged with an inline single hook on the belly. When rigged like this, it can be fished like a lipless crankbait around w**d edges very effectively. A slow roll retrieve with some twitches when it bumped w**d was enough to tempt this cracking toga!

This lure also accounted for some nice bass on the edges too, great day out! 👌

Ticking off a new species is as good as it gets, achieving it with one of my best mates made it even sweeter. After some quick plans, we hit the QLD lakes to try and catch our first saratoga. Paddle kayaks, no electronics, just old school reading the water/conditions and working out a pattern.

We started by working the edges during low light for toga, casting Z-Man Lures Australia 3" Slim SwimZ in pearl colour paired with a TT Fishing #2 jig spinner + 1/0H HeadlockZ HD jighead. It didn't take long and I had my first bite, and it wasn't fighting like a bass.. a nice big jump out of the water in the morning light confirmed it was a toga! Stoked, what a moment! Such prehistoric beasts!

Continued working the edges, a TT Vortex spinnerbait (1/8oz) + 3" Slim SwimZ trailer picking up a nice bass. Once the edge bite shut down, we then moved out wider and fished the bottom with TT Switch Minnows and kept the bass bite going!

Saratoga ✅️

The goal was to catch my first saratoga, I'd never targeted them before so it was the perfect DIY challenge.

My mate Michael lives in Queensland so I asked him if he was keen to have a crack at catching a toga, which he hadn't targeted either. We had the best time stripping everything back to basics, just a paddle kayak, a handful of lure, no sounder. Just reading the water and working out a system that neither of us had ever fished before.

The end result was 2 toga and a stack of bass, with the toga measuring up 62cm and 66cm. What an epic experience having big toga jumping in the morning light! Couldn't be happier to tick another species off the bucket list!

Cracker of a time chasing reef thugs on finesse tackle, thanks again Declan Williams for putting us in the zone. We had to go light to get the bite, even managed to score my first golden! Stoked! 🤘

Tackle:
Z-Man Lures Australia 3" Slim SwimZ (Cotton Candy)
TT Fishing Size 1 HeadlockZ HD
Platypus Fishing Lines 8lb Pulse X4 braid, 15lb Hard Armour Fluorocarbon

What an epic trip! Declan Williams putting us in the zone, fooling big barra with TT Fishing Enforcer 190mm plastics. The bite on these plastics at night is unreal, especially when they hit it at the boat and decide to play up right in front of us 🤘 TT Black Adder baitcaster rods providing the stopping power to get these fish to the net 🔥

Flicking soft plastic lures from the beach with 6lb tackle is a fun way to spend an hour or two! This session was a cracker, with about 15 fish caught in a couple of hours during a crazy 2hr bite period (flathead, bream and dart).

4" finesse wormZ doing the damage, cut down to 3" and rigged on a #1 NedlockZ. Great little presentation, who needs live worms! 🤣

Have been having fun targeting pan-sized flathead and bream from the beaches and in the rivers flicking around the Zman 4" finesse wormZ. I've been cutting it down 1" and rigging it on a NedLockZ jighead for a more compact presentation. If you haven't tried fishing with soft plastic lures on finesse tackle from the beach, I highly recommend giving it a go! When you do hook those better caliber fish, it can be a decent little fight.

Have always loved the simplicity of spinning from the stones for tailor. I'm fortunate that there is a genuine chance of a proper greenback around here, the goal is a tailor around that 80cm mark.

This one was 60cm, ending the morning with a pigeon pair before pulling up stumps. Both falling for the 120mm Hustler, cast with the TT Siva 10'6" rod 👌

2025 was chaotic to say the least, sold my kayak, sold my boat, really had to strip everything back to the essentials.. but a recent change of location means better access to coastal waters. Really looking forward to exploring new zones after battling it out in Sydney for way too long! In saying that, Sydney makes you work bloody hard for your fish so if you can catch quality fish often in heavily pressure waterways by constantly thinking outside the box, it means you can adapt very quickly to new water 👌 Let's see what this new chapter brings!

A few pics of a recent sunrise spin for tailor, I just love the simplicity of this style of fishing

Perch & prawns, the perfect match 👌 giving the 2.5" prawnZ elite & 2.5" prawnZ a run on some estuary perch

.b_fishing & I spent the last day of our Tassie trip bush bashing along the banks of the southern rivers and creeks in search of trout. It's worth noting that throughout Tas, the angler access to rivers was the best I've ever experienced 👌 All across the state, there were ladders over farm fences & sign posted angler access points with information on fishing regulations for each river.. it makes me wonder why other states can't follow in their footsteps?

I didn't catch a single fish on this final day but that really didn't bother me. Who could complain when exploring this epic terrain, the tannin stained rivers & seeing some of the prettiest brown trout with black along their backs & vibrant cherry red dots along their sides. I was stoked to be immersed in this special place, it won't be my last trip down there!
