In the office today doing some Showing for a wonderful team🏆 Campaigning this young mare under saddle for the first time to build confidence 🥰
And she nailed it! 🎉🙌

She is still very green 😅 and only having 4 rides with her before the comp to prep her lines, she grew so confident as the day carried on 💕 exceeding all our expectation!!
We are so proud of this little mare for giving her absolute everything today 🥰
So proud of her owner Lee Anne for being Champions in their led classes 💪

Also note the monster trucks behind us 😂 she did not spook at anything! Definitely has a bright competition future 🌟🏆

Kept it short and simple with all the weather going on. Not asking for anything too spicy💃

Love how much stronger she is feeling through her training 🥰
This is one of the best parts about being a dressage trainer. The moment the horses finally start to feel how strong they are💪 they feel good, excited, energetic (sometimes they dont know where to channel those feelings😅🐉) and then we come in, to teach the horses where to channel that strength and energy ✨

Last weekend our competition entry fee turned into a donation 😂

After all the wet we have had, our gelding showed lameness the day before with a suspected abscess emerging😔
So that was his entry fee donated 💁‍♀️

Second day of competition, was our big fat redhead’s turn to do the same tests she has been training for a year now and does them at home with ease. Simple right?

Well.. due to parenting duties with my son(yes i am also a mother) it took a little longer to get our morning organised.
We arrived with only 30mins before our first test was meant to start, so I scratched, knowing the rush of it all would have not ended well for both of us 🫠
This made things actually really enjoyable..
We walked around, helped other riders, ate some grass. So relaxing with my oversized dog following me wherever I was needed 🥰🐴
Tacking up an hour before my second test, we walked around the warmup arena and watched. Everything was cool and calm.
Well.. then I said, “okay honey, now we can start moving”.. it was clear her response was “umm what? like hell we are”
Now let’s remember this.. I broke this horse in. I have had her from the very beginning of her riding career. I know her every thought, every reaction, everything she is doing and thinking when it comes to in the saddle and off. And she did not want a bar of any work at that moment.
And I must say we are 100% in rebellious teenage power mode right now 🤦‍♀️
So there was my last and final donation for the weekend 😂
All happening in a space of 15mins!
(Thankyou Tilly, for getting me evicted from the warmup arena 👌🫠 and pretending to the public that you are an uneducated donkey who doesn’t know how to trot in a straight line)

So.. back to the float we go. Unsaddle, brush her ect.
By this stage she is standing the quietest she ever stands, clearly realising she has royally stuffed up💩
So then we get closer to the actual time my test was meant to begin..
I couldn’t go back into the warmup. I couldn’t do the test. But I also couldn’t leave (parenting duties again, waiting for my son to get dropped off).
So after so much battling with my head what to do. I became a trainer again💪 I could not finish the day with her exploding and then me getting straight off, taking her home, and back in the paddock. She is too intelligent and would have learnt very quickly, she can do that again.
Round 2 ✌️ saddled up and took her to an area I was not disturbing anyone 😮‍💨
And here we have the perfect princess 😑 beautiful trot, canter, laterals, even flying changes with no questions or opinions at all.
That to me is SUCCESS 🙌💕 I was SO happy with the short ride she gave me to finish a bad experience.

.Until I got kicked out again 🤦‍♀️ reason being.. my horse was sweating again.. they didn’t see me resting her for 30mins.. winter coat still attached and she sweats within 5mins of work(we both do😅)
I was riding her at the same time I had paid to be on her competing.. but rules are rules 🤷‍♀️

This weekend was unexpected, unpredictable and pushed more then just my willpower 😂
But the feeling my big girl was giving me at the end makes me still love her more than any other horse🥹
She is so powerful and opinionated at the moment.. but her talent for a Thoroughbred still makes me appreciate how far I have come training this girl.
People can see she is not easy to train. But when things click, she is a force of magical power 🦄 and I love her for that 💕

Next gear level finally unlocked for this big gentle giant 🤩

So proud of how far he has come through our rehab and dressage boot camp🐎

Be confident about educating your horse 🎓

No matter the ride or session you choose to do each day. Your confidence is key to a positive experience.
It is always important to have a plan before you ride🐎
Some days those plans can change🍃
The weather, the behaviour, your inner self. The list goes on..
Dont fixate on what must be accomplished🙅‍♀️
It is so important to listen to how your horse’s feeling each ride. Like us, they have off days as well 🥴
A plan doesn’t have to be singular.
Have a plan A, plan B and plan C in the back of your mind 👏
Be confident that you know your horse.
Be confident in knowing how to ride.
Be confident in knowing how to listen to them.
Be confident in changing your plans.
The basic training is just as important as the intense training 💕

Our colourful princess stepped into the spotlight for the second time 👑 for Northcoast Active-riders Group (Nags) dressage🏆

We are SO proud of this mare!
Her strength and power is starting to shine (although she chose to channel it a little differently with a bit extra sas on competition day😜)

Halfway through her first test, after completing her simple changes and walking through the corner before her next canter transition, our girl put her foot down and said “nope we rest now”
This was definitely my fault 🤦‍♀️ because at home, when she does a great movement, i give her a long rein and let her walk and rethink.
So Minka was basically telling me how well she did and that it was her time to walk 😂💕
Second test she was tired and hot and ready to go home (also her first time doing 2 tests in one day) but she did such an amazing job getting through the 3.3 🥰

We have so much love for her talent, intelligence and personality. Her future is truly going to be a special one 🇦🇺🏆
