Huge congratulations to Andy Marshall, who joins Rhys Ferguson in the QLD Open State team, alongside Lauren Jelly (Captain) and Sue McCord in the QLD State Womens Team.
Can you believe that Smashers make up 25% of the Open and Women's teams!?!? That's massive for a relatively small club like ours and speaks volumes of the support we provide each other and the rewards you can get from hard work. Super proud of all of you!!

My privilege as Pres to pass on some amazing news!!

This weekend there were four Smashers fighting for spots in the Queensland State teams, with our Champion Lauren Jelly already an automatic selection. Lauren did play in the state singles and finished third. Another great effort from Loz.

Loz will be joined in the Women’s State Team by Sue McCord who finished on top of the table!! The girls keep doing what they do!! Legends.

Shannon Purcell was the last Smashers male to make a Queensland State Open team. This year that all changed when his student Rhys Ferguson finished second to Vijay Randall, with Andy Marshall heartbreakingly missing out on a State spot by count back.

I’m personally so stoked for my great friend Rhys and I love seeing him in that state team photo. But I have to say my favourite pic is the hug Andy has given him. That depicts true Smasher spirit. That’s the reason while myself and the rest of the Committee work as hard as we do.

I was the 4th player and I wasn’t up to the task this year. But I’ll keep my chin high, learn some lessons and move on to the next tournament!!
