Grief Practitioner | Coach | Speaker - From Resistance to Acceptance
Have you ever noticed that the hardest part isn't the conversation itself, but the resistance that appears before it? Ignite Your Sexy was born from the personal journey of Amy Rosso, a daughter who faced the profound loss of her mother and chose to turn her heartbreak into hope. What once was a future filled with vibrant dreams

Part 1 “IS THIS GRIEF?” It’s a question I hear a lot.

Because grief doesn’t always look like tears. Sometimes it looks like anger.
Numbness.
Exhaustion.
Overthinking.
Feeling disconnected.
Or simply not feeling like yourself.

You may even wonder, “Why am I feeling like this?”
Grief can show up in ways you never expected.
And when you begin to understand what your mind and body are experiencing, you can begin to move from resistance towards acceptance.
You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

So today, I want to ask you something.
There is no right answer.
You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
Sometimes healing begins when we give the unspoken a place to be heard.

Let's talk.

The Grief No One Sees: What Happens Behind the Smile

People may see you moving through your days.

The smile.
The strength.
The “I’m okay.”

And perhaps, on the outside, you are functioning.
But when the world becomes quiet…

What happens inside you?
Maybe that’s when you notice the moments you wish you could pick up the phone and call them.

The milestones they’re no longer here to share.
The memories that appear without warning.
The emotions you quickly push down because you don’t want to make anyone else uncomfortable.
And perhaps you’ve become very good at hiding what hurts.
Because sometimes the mind learns to protect us by keeping certain emotions out of awareness.

You keep busy.
You stay strong.
You focus on everyone else.
You tell yourself you’re okay.
But grief doesn’t always need to look like tears.

Sometimes it sounds like:

✨ “I don’t feel like myself anymore.”
✨ “Why am I so exhausted?”
✨ “Why can’t I enjoy things the way I used to?”
✨ “Why do I feel guilty when I’m happy?”
✨ “Why is this still affecting me?”

And what if none of this means you’re broken?
What if it simply means there is a part of you that is still asking to be heard?

You can be grateful for the life you have and deeply miss the person you lost.
You can smile and still be grieving.
You can be strong and allow yourself to receive support.
You don’t have to choose between remembering them and creating a life that feels good again.
Because healing isn’t about erasing the past.

It’s about changing the way you carry it.
And perhaps, when you begin to give yourself permission to acknowledge what you feel, you can begin discovering something else too…

The possibility of feeling safe enough to smile, laugh, love, and live again - without believing you are leaving them behind.

Your grief deserves to be witnessed.
Your story deserves to be heard.
And you deserve a safe space to discover what healing can look like for you.

✨ Sometimes the first step from resistance to acceptance is simply allowing yourself to say: “This is what I’m feeling… and I’m allowed to feel it.”

5 Reasons Acceptance May Feel So Difficult After Loss

And it might not be what you think.

You may understand the loss logically… but that doesn't always mean another part of you is ready to accept what it means.

1. Your mind is still searching for familiar
Part of you may still expect life to return to how it was.
Your brain creates patterns around people, routines and relationships.
When loss changes the pattern, your mind needs time to create a new map of your world.
You aren't failing. Your mind is adjusting.

2. You're protecting yourself from painful emotions
Sometimes resistance is the mind's way of trying to protect you.
You may stay busy.
Stay strong.
Avoid certain memories.
Push the feelings away.
But emotions don't always need to be fixed.
Sometimes they simply need space to be acknowledged.
What you allow yourself to feel can begin to move.

3. Your mind may still be searching for meaning
The words left unsaid.
The questions without answers.
The moments you wish you could relive.
The future you imagined that will never happen.
Grief isn't only about losing someone.
Sometimes it's also about losing the possibilities you associated with them.

4. You may believe acceptance means letting go
Acceptance doesn't mean forgetting.
It doesn't mean moving on.
It doesn't mean loving them less.
Acceptance can simply mean:
"This happened. I cannot change what happened. And I'm learning how to live with what is."
The relationship may change.
The love doesn't have to.

5. You may be comparing your grief to someone else's
There is no universal grief timeline.
No perfect way to grieve.
No right sequence of emotions.
You might laugh today and cry tomorrow.
Feel peaceful one moment and overwhelmed the next.
That doesn't mean you're going backwards.
It means you're processing something that mattered deeply.

Acceptance isn't saying, "I'm okay that this happened."
It may be saying: "This happened…and I'm learning how to live again while carrying the love with me."

You don't have to force acceptance.
You can begin by creating space for what you're feeling.
Healing can begin when we stop fighting what is…
and gently begin learning how to live with it.
If grief feels like something you're carrying alone, you don't have to navigate it that way.

Time vs. The Journey

Life doesn’t come with a warranty. It isn’t measured in years, months or kilometres travelled.

It’s one life, one journey, one passport. ✈️🌍

When you stop measuring life by the destination and start honouring the journey itself, everything shifts- your perspective, your purpose, your path.

We love to celebrate milestones:
💍 The cha-ching of a diamond ring.
🎉 The anniversaries, the picture-perfect wedding day.
🏆 The big wins we plaster on highlight reels.
And of course, the birthdays:
🎂 Turning 1, hitting 10 (double digits at last!), racing to sweet 16 and then 18, stepping into 21 with the “keys to life.”
Then come the decades - 30, 40, 50 and if we’re lucky, 💯.
✨ And yes, I love celebrating these too!

But what about the in-betweens?
The unspoken chapters.
The quiet steps no one throws a party for.

Because when life shifts- when identity blurs, when life turn dark, grey or becomes heavy... we forget to celebrate those in-betweens too.

And sometimes, those quiet steps are the very ones that save us.
