Sitting here at the end of the week thinking about how much the right people actually shape how you feel day to day.
Someone checking in. A good laugh. A conversation that goes on longer than you planned because neither of you wanted to hang up. Being around people who make things feel easier just by being there.
None of that happens by accident. It takes actually showing up for people, not just being around them. Making the call instead of waiting for them to make it. Saying yes to the coffee even when you're tired. Choosing connection on the days it would be easier not to bother.
Going into this weekend, I hope you get to spend time with someone who makes you feel completely like yourself. If you don't have plans for that yet, maybe make one.
Grateful for the people in my life who do that for me. ๐

New blog post is up and this one is a bit of a trip down memory lane. ๐
Leotards. Leg warmers. Aerobics Oz Style. Twenty six years of watching fitness reinvent itself over and over again.
And somewhere in all of it, what being fit actually means to me has quietly changed.
If you've ever wondered whether your own relationship with fitness has shifted over the years too, this one might resonate.

What Being Fit Means to Me Now. And How That's Changed.
The answer looks different at 48 than it did at 28.When I was younger, being fit meant something quite different to me.It was about how fast I could run, how hard I could train, how much I could push. There was a version of me that measured a good workout by how exhausted I was at the end of it. Mor...

This was this morning's session. Dumbbells, a plan for the morning and good company.
Training outdoors with a group changes everything about how you show up for it. On your own it's easy to talk yourself out of it. With people beside you doing the same thing, working through the same reps, laughing between sets, it stops being a chore and starts being something you actually look forward to.
There's real research behind this too. The Australian Institute of Fitness points to group exercise as a genuine source of social support, one that builds a sense of belonging over time and helps people push through challenges they might not tackle alone. That sense of community is what keeps people showing up long after motivation alone would have run out.

I've got a small group of women I've known for over fifteen years. We don't see each other as often as we used to and it never matters. We pick up exactly where we left off, every single time.
That's what I think about when I talk about the right people. Not how many you have around you. How easy it feels to be around them.
You can be in a room full of people and still feel completely disconnected. And you can have a handful who make you feel completely at ease, completely yourself, without ever having to perform or explain or be anything other than who you actually are.
I've spent a lot of energy over the years trying to expand my circle. What's actually mattered more is protecting the small one that already fits.

Spent the weekend celebrating with friends. A joint 50th and 21st, two very different milestones in one room.
At some point in the night I stood back for a minute and just looked around. All these people, different ages, different stories, all there for the same reason. To celebrate someone they love.
Celebrations like that remind you what actually matters. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ.
I came home tired and full at the same time. Grateful for the people who show up for the big moments and the small ones too.
This week I want to talk more about that. Why the people around you matter more to your health than most of us realise.

We made it. And not just made it, we showed up. Modified squats, seated versions, "I did what I could and that's what counts" energy all week long. ๐

Grab a coffee, put your feet up or go do something completely unnecessary and fun this weekend. You've earned it. ๐

Because staying in the game matters more than how you play it.This week I taught five classes in one day. And as I was moving around the room, I kept hearing the same kinds of things. My knee's playing up. Got a bit of a sore shoulder. Still recovering from the lurgy. This bit isn't quite working pro...

We've talked a lot this week about working with the body you've brought with you that day, whether that's a sore knee, a tight shoulder or something that's just not quite right. This one fits right into that conversation.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ is what I reach for after a session where something's feeling a bit off. It provides genuine cooling comfort where you apply it and it's clinically tested and dermatologist approved, so I know exactly what I'm putting on my skin.
It's not about masking discomfort. It's about giving your body real support while it does what it needs to do to recover. Premium, simple ingredients and easy to use wherever you are, whether that's straight after class or later in the evening when something's making itself known.
If your body has needed a bit of extra care this week too, this is worth having in your kit.

Something I've noticed after decades of teaching. What your body needs from movement changes as you get older. And that's not a loss. It's just different.
In your 20s and 30s movement is often about pushing limits, building intensity, seeing how far you can go. As you get older, particularly through your 40s and beyond, your body starts asking for something different. ๐ ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป to how a movement actually feels rather than just getting through it.
This isn't your body letting you down. It's your body communicating more clearly than it used to. The niggles, the extra stiffness, the need for a longer warm up, these are information, not failure.
Working with that information rather than against it is what keeps you moving well for decades, not just years.
Your body isn't asking less of you. It's just asking differently.
