🤍The placenta- Your baby’s first home🤍
The placenta, amniotic sac, and umbilical cord are so much more than anatomy—they are a baby’s very first home.
The embryonic sac gently surrounds and protects, creating a warm, fluid-filled space where they can grow safely. The placenta delivers oxygen and nutrients while supporting their development throughout the pregnancy. And, the umbilical cord is the beautiful connection between mother and baby, transporting the oxygen and nutrients.
Our bodies truly are extraordinary - we grow a whole organ to nourish and grow our babies ✨

For me, I needed a midwife who was not afraid of the hospital and wouldn’t drag her feet on transferring me when needed.
And this isn’t to say that most midwives hesitate.
They don’t.
I wanted someone who very much understood physiological birth, my needs and my plan but wasn’t afraid to break my heart a little bit.
Sure a transfer would have stung a bit but I would have worked through that.
I knew where my nearest hospital was, where the emergency entrance was and how fast I could get there.
I had a “ just in case” bag packed.
I’m no fool to nature.
She’s in charge.
And I hired a team that worked with nature.
Nature sometimes asks for more than a soft room and a birthtub.
I was open to natures plans for us.
I’m just her humble servant.
She allowed me to birth a baby at home.
Surrounded by a strong band of women.
