"He was beautiful. He was the point of difference. He has always been the point of difference. Unparalleled.
And maybe today there will always be those who argue, those who debate. The GOAT debate will never truly end. But as he embraces the one prize his heart desired most, it's impossible to ignore the feeling that he has, once again, etched his name into football immortality.
He has rendered himself... the Greatest of All Time.
As a lifelong CR7 fan, I have no shame in admitting Lionel Messi is the bestest ever. Rivalry made football beautiful, but greatness deserves respect. 🐐❤️

Haaland already made clear before the game that he is here to have fun and that England are a better team.
Don't be surprised if he wins because he also said he's "just good at scoring goals".
Just Haaland things.

🚨Luis Enrique on Désiré Doué:
🎙️ Reporter: “Why do you think Doué changed the game when he came on?”
🗣️ Luis Enrique:
“Because some players don’t wait for the game to come to them—they go and take it.
Paraguay had become comfortable. They were defending well, closing spaces and slowing everything down.
Then Doué came on.
First touch, he runs at one defender. Then another. Suddenly the whole defensive line is moving backwards instead of forwards.
That’s the value of a player who isn’t afraid to attack people one-on-one. He forces defenders into mistakes, and eventually the only solution they have is to foul him.
You can’t coach that kind of fearlessness. That’s natural talent. That’s why players like Doué are so valuable.

This game exposed a few uncomfortable truths... 👀🔥
1️⃣ Cape Verde are no longer underdogs.
They're playing fearless football and, on current form, look stronger than some so-called European giants like Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. They'd give Portugal a serious test too.
2️⃣ At 39, Lionel Messi is still Argentina's heartbeat.
When the pressure rises, the GOAT still carries the world champions on his shoulders.
3️⃣ Right now, only France and Spain look like genuine World Cup favourites.
Argentina are surviving, not dominating—and there's a big difference.
Football has a funny way of humbling reputations. This World Cup is proving exactly that. ⚽🔥

It's time to retire the No. 10 jersey for Lionel Messi.
He's the greatest No. 10 I've ever watched.
There was a time when wearing the No. 10 made you feel like Pelé. Then Diego Maradona elevated its legacy to another level.
But Lionel Messi?
No footballer has ever redefined the No. 10 shirt the way he has. He turned it into a symbol of genius, consistency, and greatness.
Maybe it's impossible to retire the No. 10 across world football—but if anyone has earned that level of respect, it's Messi.
Give the man his flowers. The greatest No. 10 to ever play the game. 🐐⚽
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Australia are out of the world cup.
What Australia did well:
Started with good intensity and created dangerous chances.
Defended well for long periods and stayed organized.
Showed resilience to take the match all the way to penalties.
What didn't go well:
Poor finishing in front of goal—Australia failed to make their chances count.
Couldn't control the game after taking the lead, allowing Egypt back into the contest.
Penalty shootout ex*****on wasn't good enough, missing crucial spot-kicks as Egypt won 4–2 on penalties after a 1–1 draw.
Australia will feel this was a missed opportunity, while Egypt deserve credit for staying composed under pressure and holding their nerve when it mattered most.

That post-match celebration said it all.
Cristiano Ronaldo, wearing the No. 21 jersey, looked like he was doing everything he could to hold back the tears. Yes, Portugal won, but 3 July means something far greater than football. It's a date that the Portuguese football family will never truly get over.
Winning tonight wasn't just about reaching the next round—it was about honouring one departed soul.
Diogo, this victory was for you. You're gone, but you'll never be forgotten. We know you're smiling from heaven.
We miss you. 💔🇵🇹

What a match! VAR controversy, shots rattling the crossbar, goals ruled out for offside—it had absolutely everything. Pure football chaos from start to finish, and what a spectacle it was. It’s heartbreaking to see Croatia bow out, but at the same time, it’s great that Ronaldo gets at least one more game on the biggest stage.
Martínez wasn't afraid to make big decisions. Taking Bruno off was understandable, but substituting Neto and Vitinha took real courage. Bringing on Neves instead of replacing Ronaldo proved to be a masterstroke, with that brilliant glancing header keeping Portugal alive. And when it came to the penalty, Ronaldo did exactly what we've seen throughout his career—cool, composed, and clinical under pressure.
That disallowed offside goal at the end? Football fans will be debating that moment for years to come.
Looking ahead, though, Portugal still doesn't seem like a fully settled side. The biggest question is whether the team should be built around Bruno Fernandes or Cristiano Ronaldo. Finding the right balance between the two could be the difference between another deep run and an early exit.
And finally, Luka Modrić. What a phenomenal footballer. He may not always be mentioned alongside Messi and Ronaldo in the GOAT conversation, but his legacy is beyond question. His vision, consistency, and influence on the game have earned him a place among football's all-time greats, alongside legends like Pirlo, Scholes, Nedvěd, Zidane, and Iniesta.
What a game. What a tournament.
