We made it to sunny Orlando after a brief stop in LA and a quick visit to Venice Beach. The US Open starts tomorrow and I hope we are all ready for what's to come

It's been a while since I've posted anything here but I assure you we are still here and still active. Charlie and Ian have been training hard all year in preparation to compete at the US Open in Orlando Florida. This will be the largest and toughest event we have attended, with reportedly over 5000 competitors, 35 mats set over a 3 day period.
We fly out on Monday and join the rest of the Australian team, the largest team ever to attend, for more training and preparation and if all goes well we'll all do well
Our team has the skills but we are going to need a little luck so send what you can our way

Attention Northern Dragons, due to outside commitments we have had to change our training schedule, for the time being we will no longer be training at the church hall Wednesdays or Saturdays. Our new timetable will be as follows
Term 1 commencing 6th feb
Thursdays 5pm to 6pm juniors
6pm to 7 30 seniors
Mondays 5pm to 6pm juniors
6pm to 7 30 seniors
Training will be at our private Dojo which most of you are familiar with.

Blast from the past. It makes me proud to share in the success our students have achieved over the years. As with all things in life you start at the bottom, take the hard knocks, pick yourself up, brush yourself off, congratulate your opponent and strive to do better next time.
Martial Arts is not about winning trophies or medals, it's about finding your inner strength, having the courage to face your fears, learning the respect to show your peers, controlling your emotions, gaining the confidence we all need to find our way through this ever changing world.
I have 3 sons, all black belts, all faced the same challenges that all children are faced with these days, so many paths to take, but I believe their background in Martial Arts gave them the courage and conviction to choose the right path.
It is the season for giving and in my humble opinion the best gift for a child is the gift of confidence, courage, commitment perserverance and a healthy lifestyle. And if that's not enough they will make friends for life.
We train in a very safe, friendly and fun environment where everyone is accepted regardless.
We get many inquires about our club and the free trial lesson but very few take that first step but those that do join us and become part of our "family".

Fantastic last day of our 2024 year. We had some great gradings. Starting with Sophie gaining yellow belt, Carolyn graded to yellow/1stripe, Clair to blue/1 stripe and Aiden red/2stripes.

ISKA held the Austrailian National Titles over the weekend where only the top 10 athletes are invited to compete. Charlie and Jake gave it their all and yet again finished on top having to face off in the finals.

This caps off another Stella year for the boys winning both the WAKO Nationals and Oceania Titles and also the ISKA Nationals.
A huge thank you to their coach Ian Babb who is in their corner for every tournament, giving up his family time to keep these two on top. They couldn't do it without him.

What a day on Saturday!! Finally, Oscar, one of our longest standing members graded for his black belt. The other black belts did not make it easy for him, just like it wasn't easy for them, and for a few brief moments I wasn't sure if he could see it through, but in true black belt style he showed courage, perseverance and determination. Congratulations Oscar it's been a long time coming but you got it done.
