MOYES TAKES BRAZIL! CONGRATULATIONS MARCELO ABBOTπŸ†πŸ‡§πŸ‡·

We are absolutely thrilled to share this news from Brazil β€” Marcelo Abbott has just claimed the 2026 Brazilian Hang Gliding Championship, flying a new Moyes RX 4! πŸŽ‰
What makes this story even more special? Marcelo only switched to Moyes recently. First season. First championship. That's the kind of debut you write home about.
Seven valid tasks across one of the toughest Brazilian championships in recent memory β€” and Marcelo delivered from start to finish.
A huge congratulations from everyone at Moyes to Marcelo and all the pilots who battled through this epic event. And a massive thank you to the Brazilian hang gliding community for the incredible spirit and camaraderie on display throughout the competition.
Read on for a beautiful tribute from Moyes pilot Glauco Cavalcanti, written straight from the heart of the Brazilian scene.

BRAZILIAN CHAMPION ALERT!

Marcelo Abbott is the new Brazilian Hang Gliding Champion for 2026! And what a story it is β€” Marcelo started flying Moyes this year and has already claimed the Brazilian Championship title after an incredibly challenging event featuring 7 valid tasks. A true hang gliding marathon.

Congratulations to Marcelo, now officially a true Moyes Boy, on an outstanding achievement and a well-deserved championship victory.

Congratulations as well to all the pilots who took on one of the toughest championships and pushed through every task. These are the kinds of moments and experiences that stay with you forever.

For those of us following from afar, it was an amazing event to watch. We enjoyed every task, every goal arrival, and every update shared throughout the competition.

A big thank you to the organizers, and especially to SΓ©rgio Kawakame (β€œChina”), who made us feel part of the competition even from a distance. Congratulations as well to Nixon for supporting the Moyes pilots throughout the event.

A little side story β€” when I went to Nixon to fit the new sail on my glider, Marcelo Abbott happened to be there picking up his new Moyes RX. If he had known he was about to become the 2026 Brazilian Hang Gliding Champion flying that rocket, he probably would have bought a Moyes even sooner!

That’s it β€” let’s fly πŸš€

Safe flights and strong thermals to everyone.

Coming up next: Andradas, BrasΓlia, the JaraguΓ‘ season, and the cherry on top… QuixadΓ‘.

Test flight complete – and she passed with flying colours! Our RX 3.5 Pro put on quite a show, launching off Bald Hill, turning on a dime and carving the air with precision – this glider’s handling is something else!
This stunning glider is Kazakhstan bound – and if this flight is anything to go by the the lucky new owner is in for an absolute treat.

Grand Canyon History 30/04/2026

πŸ¦… A little piece of history just resurfaced!

Family member Maddy stumbled across this gem from the Grand Canyon Historical Society β€” and what a story it is.
In 1970, Bill Moyes became the first person known to fly a hang glider into the Grand Canyon, launching from Yaki Point and touching down near Phantom Ranch. Paramount Pictures thought it was worth $250,000 for a 26-minute film of the feat.
The rangers? Not so impressed. Bill spent two nights in jail and walked away with a $150 fine.

"Meet Matt Carr β€” a passionate and long-time Moyes Boy who has owned three Geckos over the past decade. Here's what he has to say about his brand new carbon leading edge model.

"Ten years. Three Geckos. And I'm still smiling every time I leave the ground.

I bought my first aluminum frame Gecko in 2016, a second in 2018 as a dedicated tow glider, and just a few weeks ago I picked up my third β€” a brand new carbon leading edge Gecko with a Technora (Pro) sail. All three ordered the same way, because when you find something that works, you stick with it.

This past week I launched off the Radial Ramp at Henson's Gap, TN and put the new carbon Gecko through its paces β€” six flights across a range of conditions from rowdy, strong thermals to smooth, silky soaring. The verdict? Even better than I hoped.

The handling on the carbon model is noticeably more refined β€” quicker roll response, lighter and more precise thermal coordination β€” and I genuinely had to remind myself to relax on tow because it's so responsive. Yet it retains everything I love about the Gecko: light pitch pressure, superb glide, and that rare feeling of a glider that works with you.

Over the years I've flown a lot of wings. The Gecko has consistently proven to be the best balance of performance, handling, and sheer enjoyment I've experienced. For recreational flying and occasional cross country, it performs on a par with the best non-rigid wings out there at non-racing speeds. β€” and the carbon version raises that bar even further.

A heartfelt thank you to Moyes Delta Gliders for continuing to develop and refine this remarkable glider. For many of us, it's simply the best choice in the sky. Here's to many more flights! πŸ™
