The TAHE brand is the result of the fusion of BIC Sport and Tahe Outdoors, two companies that have been legends in their respective water sports markets for decades. BIC Sport contributes its industrial/manufacturing expertise, its board sport culture and spirit of fun, Tahe Outdoors its northern European mastery of kayak design and manufacture. The result is this new brand dedicated to delivering
fun on the water for all: individuals, families, friends, for any and all skill levels. TAHE’s mission is to develop products that are accessible, reliable, simple and innovative, ecologically responsible and mostly manufactured in France. The name changes and also the Brand’s dynamics with a new image, new projects, new products. That said, our skilled workforce remains in place and products names that have built the name and reputation of the company remain. Products such as the Techno windsurf boards, Borneo and Bilbao kayaks, the Cross and Performer SUP series, ACE-TEC and TOUGH-TEC technologies… feature in the 2021 TAHE Product Range. Together they ensure continuity for the Brand, but are at the same time challenged by new products. The manufacturing facilities stay the same: Tahe Outdoors France/ex-BIC Sport at its site in Vannes (Brittany), France, the original Tahe Outdoors at its factory 2020 in Tallin, Estonia. THE BIC SPORT STORY | THE PURSUIT OF FUN
Born from the rise of windsurfing and the mass take-up of board sports in the early 80s, BIC Sport established its reputation and image on the principle of “fun”, and the success of its media-star rider teams conquering the legendary Hawaiian waves. This experience was the inspiration behind the creation of the best-selling windsurf boards in the sport’s history. Later, in the 90s, BIC Sport successfully diversified into other board and water sports: surf, kayak, junior/ child-friendly dinghies, and eventually Stand Up Paddle. This quickly made it the benchmark brand for board and water sport fanatics and addicts of all skill levels. BIC Sport also opened up the world of competition and racing as widely as possible, with the creation of two landmark monotype products for youngsters. The Techno 293 OD windsurfer and the O’pen Skiff dinghy can now be found equipping sailing clubs and schools in nearly 60 countries worldwide. Another unique factor making its reputation is that it is the only mass manufacturer to retain its main production site in Europe, in Brittany, France. At the end of the 80’s, Tahe Outdoors was busy creating its own legend on the cold Baltic waters of northern Europe around its home in Estonia. A team of top level sports men and women combined to create a range of super-solid, high performance kayaks for cold-water voyages of exploration and discovery. The Estonian word “TAHE” translates as ”Iron-will”. This was a core value for the company’s creators, and their endeavour received vital support from the Finnish Kayak Federation.
