Most people are still trying to climb a career ladder.
But here’s the truth…
Careers don’t work like that anymore.
The idea of a straight path upward?
That’s outdated.
Real careers today are dynamic, unpredictable and full of opportunity if you know how to navigate them.
That’s why I designed the S.T.E.P.S. framework.
Because growth isn’t just about going up…
It’s about moving intelligently.
Stairs – Build capability through effort and mastery
Travelators – Move with momentum in the right environments
Escalators – Accelerate through systems, sponsorship, and scale
Planes – Take bold leaps across roles, industries, and borders
Subway – Reinvent quietly beneath the surface
Here’s what most people miss:
Some of your most powerful moves won’t be visible.
The Subway phase is where real transformation happens:
• You build new skills
• You explore unfamiliar territory
• You prepare for your next breakthrough
From the outside, it may look like you’re standing still…
But in reality, you’re repositioning strategically.
And that changes everything.
Instead of waiting for the next opportunity, you start creating your own.
Instead of climbing harder, you start navigating smarter.
Because the future of careers isn’t about speed…
It’s about direction.
And the best part?
You’re not just following a path.
You’re designing it.

Ever felt stuck at work because promotions just… stopped happening?
You’re not alone.
But here’s something most people don’t realize:
Being overlooked isn’t always about performance.
Sometimes:
• The role has no more room
• The organization can’t grow you
• Or you’ve outgrown the environment
That “stuck” feeling?
It might be your cue to rethink your next move.
Because careers today aren’t about climbing higher…
They’re about moving smarter.
And sometimes the best move isn’t a promotion—it’s a pivot.

So, this happened over the weekend… 😄
Went to watch Douglas Lim perform stand-up comedy in Sydney and the guy absolutely smashed it. The entire room was laughing non-stop.
If you’ve ever wondered why Douglas Lim is one of the most loved comedians across Malaysia and Singapore, just watch him live.
His jokes hit home because they’re so relatable — culture, family, everyday life, the little things we all recognize.
Managed to grab a quick selfie with him after the show (thanks Douglas!).
But while everyone else walked away saying “that was hilarious”…
I walked away thinking something slightly different.
Great comedians are experts in knowing themselves.
They know:
• their identity
• their perspective
• their quirks
• their stories
And they turn that into comedy.
That idea is exactly what I talk about in Chapter 2 of my book "The Future of Careers - How to Adapt and Thrive in a Disruptive Age".
Before you try to figure out your career…
you first must figure out yourself.
Your strengths.
Your motivations.
Your purpose.
Once that becomes clear, the path forward becomes a lot easier.
Douglas Lim clearly figured out his path — and the rest of us get to enjoy the laughs. If he’s performing near you in Singapore or Malaysia, go watch him. Trust me… your stomach muscles will get a workout. 😂
And as for my book “The Future of Careers”, it will be released on the 8 April 2026. Pre-orders available now through the under-mentioned links:

Most professionals believe opportunity lives somewhere else.
Another company.
Another industry.
Another country.
But what if the opportunity isn’t greener on the other side…
What if the glass is simply cleaner from a distance?
When we look at someone else’s career, we see the highlight reel:
• the promotion
• the new job title
• the exciting move
What we don’t see are the realities every organisation has:
• internal politics
• resource constraints
• leadership challenges
• cultural friction
From a distance, complexity disappears.
Before making your next career move, ask yourself three questions:
1.️ Am I reacting to perception or reality?
2.️ What specific problem am I trying to solve?
3.️ Will a new environment actually solve it?
Sometimes the opportunity really is better elsewhere. Not always though. Have you explored other roles or functions within your organization? My book "The Future of Careers - How to Adapt and Thrive in a Disruptive Age" discusses the N.A.V.I.G.A.T.E. framework for this. If a move to another industry or sector becomes necessary, I also explain how pivoting is possible using the B.R.I.D.G.E. framework.
The most strategic professionals don’t chase greener pastures.
They learn to see their environment clearly first.
Because often the glass only looks cleaner on the other side for one reason…
You’re standing far enough away that you can’t see the fingerprints.
Explore this and other concepts in my soon to be released book "The Future of Careers - How to Adapt and Thrive in a Disruptive Age" on Amazon KDP and other bookstores. It will be released on 8 April 2026.

The future of careers will not be decided by AI.
It will be decided by how humans respond to it.
Over the past two weeks, I’ve written about the disruptive forces reshaping our professional world — artificial intelligence, automation, geopolitical instability, compressed skill cycles, shifting leadership expectations.
But disruption itself is not the story. Adaptation is.
After years of working across industries, sectors and countries — and navigating disruption personally and professionally, I’ve written a new book:
The Future of Careers – How to Adapt and Thrive in a Disruptive Age
(Launching 8 April 2026 | Pre-orders now open)
This is not another theoretical book about technology.
It is a practical, research-grounded guide to remaining relevant, resilient and valuable in an AI-shaped economy.
Inside the book, you’ll discover:
• Why the half-life of skills is shrinking and what to do about it.
• The four capabilities that will separate thriving professionals from obsolete ones.
• How to position yourself as AI-augmented rather than AI-replaced.
• A framework for career reinvention at any stage — 35, 45 or 55.
• How leaders can build adaptable teams that outperform in uncertainty.
This book is built on evidence from global research, real executive experience, and lived reinvention.
It is written for:
• Professionals who refuse to stagnate
• Leaders navigating transformation
• Organizations preparing their workforce for what’s next
If you believe your career deserves proactive design rather than reactive survival, this book is for you.
Pre-orders make a meaningful difference in launch momentum and visibility. Seeing the early pre-orders come through has been both humbling and energizing. To those who have already ordered — thank you. Your belief in this work truly matters.
I’m confident the frameworks and insights inside will prove practical and immediately relevant. And if you’re still considering it, your early support would help build meaningful momentum as we head toward 8 April 2026.

We were taught to build careers like ladders.
Step up.
Hold on.
Hope the rung doesn’t break.
But today, careers look less like ladders and more like road trips—with unexpected detours, roadworks, and the occasional recalculation.
That’s why purpose is the new compass.
Not a job title.
Not a company name.
Not even a five-year plan.
Purpose answers a deeper question:
Why do I do what I do—especially when things change?
When your purpose is clear:
Change feels less scary
Setbacks feel more temporary
Growth feels intentional
Your career GPS won’t stop you from taking wrong turns.
But it will help you find your way back—stronger, wiser, and more aligned than before.
And that’s how long-term success is really built.

Here’s what I found after looking back at my content this year:
→ The channel that surprised me the most: LinkedIn (turns out long-form thinking still has a pulse)
→ A format I loved creating: Short, punchy insights with just enough provocation to start a conversation
→ A theme that followed me everywhere: The intersection of leadership, AI, and how humans stay relevant
→ What I want to simplify or refine in 2026: Fewer ideas per post. Clearer points. More signal, less noise.
Exploring new formats is useful.
Finding what actually sounds like you is better.
Here's to creating work that’s not just consistent—but intentional.
