Day of the Drags 2026 recap
Team Gone Berzerk Racing had its most testing day yet, after a few highs the last couple of events also comes the lows.
Q1 - made some fueling and blower adjustments from the last event to see if we could make the car happier & bounce less on the 1-2 shift. That didnβt help, with .031β reaction it was looking good, a pedal through the middle of 2nd gear we ran it out the back with a 6.94 @ 203.
Q2 - we reversed our blower change and took weight off the clutch to free up the motor, a .034β reaction was all we got as we sprung a fuel leak right off the line running straight over it with the left rear tyre shooting the car left and some tyre shake to go with it leaving us unsure if our clutch adjustments worked or not.
After Q2 this left us qualified P2 in the field with a less than ideal tuneup for the day.
We missed CSO1 due to not fixing the leak in time. ππ»
CSO2 - leaving the tuneup the same we left the line with a .014β on the tree, the 1-2 shift again upset the car & with another quick pedal ran it through for a 6.90 @ 206
CSO3 - raised our 1-2 shift point substantially. Left the line well with a .040β and all early numbers were the best they had been all day shifted into 2nd and with the track temps plummeting as we ran into the night the car got on the tyre slightly, a pedal to settle it and only some slight porpoising left me feeling good, hit top gear and the car stood up on the tyre at half track leaving me no option but to abort the run.
Upon further inspection back in the shed we had snapped a 40spl axle clean in half π³
As they say, even a bad day at the race track is a good day. π€·π½ββοΈ
We are aiming to be back out for round 6 of the Sydney Dragway track champs 17th October, Arrival of baby #2 dependent.
Thank you to our legendary crew - Morice, Monique, Rhino and Silky for giving up another weekend to help us race.
