In August I am running the Sydney marathon and I am raising money for runningforprems 💜

The more I research and learn, the more I want to help this incredible foundation.

This Saturday I am running a session at First Base to help raise the much needed funds. I welcome you, your family & friends to come along!

We will have a race style session that will be a heap of fun and team work. Get dressed up in purple and sweat it out for the beautiful bubs in need. There will be a prize for the winning team ✨

Every Tuesday and Thursday you will find TRACK on our timetable. What is it and what I’ll I die?

Track is our run focused session that incorporates a mix of running efforts and floor efforts.

It is fun. It is challenging. The speed is in your control. You choose a pace that pushes you. That is the beauty of this class. It can be the perfect step into running for the beginners. Start with speed walking and progress to incline sprints.

We also offer the option to complete the class on an erg instead of a treadmill if running is a hard NO for you!

Most runners ignore this and wonder why they’re getting injured 👇

Your hips are the engine of your run. Weak glutes = energy leaks, knee pain, and slower times.

At First Base, our training is built around balance and functional strength and that’s exactly why we program single leg exercises and prioritise glute strength. Running is a single leg sport. Every stride you take, you’re landing on one leg, driven by your glutes. If one side is weaker or your glutes aren’t firing properly, your body compensates and that’s where injuries creep in and performance drops off.

Let’s talk social accountability 👯

People show up more consistently when others expect them to be there.

Have you ever planned a workout or run the night before with a friend and when the alarm goes off, sent a text saying “you still keen?”.

You are hoping for your buddy to bail so you can sleep a little longer, but instantly your phones dings with a “yup”.

Damn! Up you get. Because your friend is waiting for you. When you are done, you are so glad they kept you accountable.

Or have you been for a gym session solo and the 60-90 rest period turns in 4-5 minutes with some mindless scrolling between sets. But in group training, your rest is assigned. Your trainer is there watching and your buddy is waiting for their turn.

It’s just fact. Group training is:
1. More enjoyable because 🏋️‍♀️ and 🫂 is best!
2. Better for your psychological wellbeing
3. Keeps you more accountable
