Morning session with Euki.

Our morning routine is usually something of the jist of this.

The road we’re on is blending what used to be straight tug when he was younger, to small bouts of “work” for the tug.

His “work” consists of some obedience skills, with small steps of challenge around that obedience.

He’s learning a relationship with the leash, and that it’s something he can rely on for communication to help him succeed. It helps him become attuned to what he feels from the leash.

Sometimes after these sessions, we go for a walk. This is more to decompress, and wind down after a playful activity.

Why pack adventures are the best enrichment for your dog 🐕

It’s the closest experience to what dogs would do if left to their own - form packs, travel kilometres on end, explore trails and terrain, chase hunt stalk, be a dog.

Real sensory stimulation - not snuffle mates and fake mimics.

Familiar faces 🐶 dogs who become families form deeper relationships, and with deeper relationships come stronger play experiences.

And while play and socialisation is crucial, they learn that sometimes it’s not always permitted or desired by other dogs - learning those cues are just as important.

Pack obedience is what holds the experience together. Recall, down stay and pack heeling are among some of the skills always practiced to give them this ultimate opportunity.

A neighbourhood session with Joe the mini foxy X cattle mix 🐕

In this session we are working on our communication through obedience, blending food rewards, personal play rewards and leash guidance.

Layering different commands together with different rewards can make things more fun, keeping your doggo interested in the cooperation.

Teaching and practicing these fundamentals help when we want to teach harder concepts (second slide) such as recalling off other dogs when off leash at the beach, which is something we’ve helped his owners with 🙌🏼
