Cairns' not-for-profit circus school. Aerials, acrobatics & more for kids to adults. All welcome!
CYCAS Circus has operated for over 18 years in the Cairns community offering weekday classes and workshops in many circus skills, including aerial tricks. As a Not-for-Profit organisation, our focus is aimed solely at the encouragement of our students to learn, communicate, develop, inspire and perform. Our students incorporate circus, dance, acro and drama skills to create unique performances for
community events, fetes, festivals and corporate gigs. Circus is recognised nationally and internationally as a non-competitive social sport engaging youth world-wide, creating happy healthy kids.
๏ปฟ๏ปฟThe Cairns Youth Circus Arts School Inc. operates two physical arts groups in Cairns:
- CYCAS Circus is Far North Queensland's youth circus school formed in 2004 by founder and artistic director Patti Burnheim.
- Aerial Active was developed in 2016 to offer adult students access to circus skills training at a dedicated timeslot outside of the busy work day. Training, workshops and performances incorporate circus skills including stilt walking, unicycling, diabolos, poi, plates, fire twirling, juggling, hula hoops, acrobalance, clowning, aerial and much more. Our aim is to educate, inform and inspire youth to accomplish something positive for themselves, while creating an interactive experience that encourages young people to value team spirit and appreciate a love for physical activity. The organisation brings students of all ages, sizes and abilities together, enhancing their growth and development physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.
