Next time you find a lobster that’s just out of reach, try 's tickle trick.
"Slowly advance your hand under the antennas, making sure not to move if the antenna come down to touch and sense you. If that happens the lobster will spook. If you’ve come this far, the lobster should get curious and start to walk out to your hand 😁 Once you’re within confident grabbing distance go for the grab on the horns. Sometimes you get the money grab on both horns, but usually you’ll just get the one, or in my case, a millimeter of one 🤪 - but it’ll be just enough to secure the lobster."

"First spear mission of the year really setting the bar quite high. absolutely cleaned up with a Spanish, big tusky and plucked his first cobia off a big bully, was unreal to watch 🦈
We also got super lucky and ran into a leopard shark playing around in the shallows 🥹

Make your voice heard at the upcoming council meeting about the proposed Aquatic Reserve extending from Shelly Beach to Bass and Flinders. This significant move could drastically impact shore-based recreational fishing activities within the Sutherland Shire.
This proposal comes in the wake of illegal spearing activities, including a recent case involving a Blue Groper, prompting an immediate response from the Sutherland Shire council. While we denounce these actions and the responsible individual has been prosecuted by the DPI, it's crucial to engage in this conversation.
The Underwater Skindivers & Fishermen's Association (USFA) is actively advocating for spearfishers in this matter and encourages all who can to attend the meeting tonight. It's noteworthy that the USFA and spearfishing community were instrumental in the protection of the Blue Groper since the late 1960s.
