"In 2018, I went to South Africa to spend time with my friend Judith who was living with end stage pancreatic cancer.

Not knowing what to expect, I was feeling anxious in anticipation wondering how it would be. How will Judith be and how could I best support her? How could I be a support for those around us at a time of heightened emotions of all kinds? How could I be positive while being fully present and accepting of what was inevitably to come?

Using meditation and mindfulness tools, there were clear benefits for myself as a friend, for Judith and for those around us.

The two most meaningful results were being able to be really present with her in all that was coming up for both of us and most importantly, being able to provide comfort in her last weeks through sharing a series of personalised meditations I’d recorded for her.

The impact of the personalised meditations were in Judith’s experience:

-Improving sleep
-Reducing fear and anxiety
-Cultivating gratitude
-Sharing the benefits of meditation with loved ones

In fact, the last voicemail Judith sent me was thanking me for sending her meditations.

I felt so grateful, privileged and honoured to be able to do something so valuable for Judith and those who she shared the meditations with, especially since our physical bodies were nearly 10,000km apart.

I have also used this training professionally running workshops for schools, community groups and organisations.

Most recently, in addition to a corporate role in healthcare, I am the Mindfulness Lead for Australia and New Zealand. I ran workshops for staff well-being during COVID.

Beyond wellbeing, mindfulness practice is fundamental to our leadership expectations and underpins the values and behaviours of curiosity, inspired, unbossed, self-awareness and integrity.

I feel deeply grateful to Lifeflow as a student of weekly classes and in this case, for the skills I’m continuing to develop as a Teacher."

Amazing day sharing sound therapy as part of a Soulventures Bespoke Staff Wellbeing day for the biggest primary school in South Australia! Gratitude to the lovely Bell for inviting us to take part and offer a talk and demonstration on sound and music as well as a mini Soundbath for the teachers and school staff (Thanks also Dana for the pics!)

🌀I can tell when I’ve slipped in prioritising my own wellbeing (for me, especially mindfulness practice) because the left column starts to creep in.

👊🏼How much better does it feel to live in the right column than the left! For me, it’s like riding the crest of a wave instead of being mauled by it!

The 3 Simple Questions to Improve Your Emotional Intelligence.

When you're in an emotional moment, before you respond or say anything, ask yourself:
- What unmet need in me is this feeling about?
- Where does this feeling come from in my past (why is it so strong)?
- How can I contain my feelings and communicate my needs calmly?

It's easy for us to say too much especially when you're in an emotional moment.
Get into a habit of asking those 3 questions especially when you're in a very emotional moment. 😊

Growtherapy: Child & Adolescent Mental Health & Wellbeing

There is growing awareness that 'challenging behaviour' in children and young people can be a sign of anxiety but what about kids on the other side of the scale who are 'model students' - never get in trouble, always work hard, set high standards for themselves?

Or maybe this resonates with you personally? High-functioning anxiety can be really difficult to wrap your head around - isn't anxiety supposed to prevent you from doing things?! How can an over-achiever have anxiety?
