Thought provoking stuff about things we take for granted...
Some more raw footage from the recent trip. The local situation here is complex with the local coastal villagers (who are incredibly warm, welcoming and hospitable), and the uncontacted tribal people sharing overlapping territory and resources with sometimes violent outcomes.
Indonesia broadly is the crocodile attack capital of the world, in 2024 alone there were 179 recorded attacks with 92 fatalities and the real number is almost certainly much higher. These people have no choice but to risk interactions as a part of daily life, including for food and basic sanitation.
On the other side, the largest threat to the uncontacted people is nickel mining for the supposed 'green' EV revolution which is destroying and forcing them from parts of their ancestral homes and into more and more isolated smaller territory.
