I will remain completely lawful, but I will not be rushing to voluntarily hand over anything months before I am legally required to do so.

Why give Chris Minns the satisfaction?

Politicians absolutely love statistics, press conferences and big headline numbers.

Imagine the photo opportunity they want.

Trucks full of surrendered fi****ms.

Thousands handed in.

A Premier standing in front of cameras telling everyone what a wonderful success his policy has been.

Now imagine the alternative.

The first month finishes and, instead of the thousands they were expecting, they've managed to collect 100.

That's a statistic too.

If you are legally entitled to retain your fi****ms, why rush to make their numbers look good?
