LEARN 1940'S STYLE SWING DANCING! A NEW 5-WEEK BEGINNERS COURSE starts:

Date: Monday 24th August
Venue: Wests Illawarra Club, Hargreaves St, Unanderra.
Time: 6.00 to 7.00pm
Cost: $50/person for the full 5-week course, or $13/person paid weekly

We’re also introducing a NEW INTERMEDIATE SWING class from 7.00 to 8.00pm and the cost is $13/person.

We had 55 students start our last Beginners course, so this tells you how popular Swing dancing is! Whether you're stepping onto the dance floor for the first time or looking to add an exciting new style to your repertoire, this course is the perfect way to get started. We'll teach you in a fun, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you'll be dancing from your very first lesson!

Travel back to the golden age of the 1930s and 1940s and dance to the fabulous songs from that era. Singles and couples are all welcome – no partner required.

Fantastic night last night - 20 of us saw the fabulous Casablanca big band at Woonona Bulli RSL! How often can you see around 20 fabulous musicians and singers performing 1940's style songs these days - there should be more of it! The room is huge and it was packed, so there is definitely a need for a revival of this style of music.

Westside Rockers Social Club have their dance on this SUNDAY 9TH AUGUST at Wests Illawarra. The band is the fabulous BONNEVILLAINS! 2 to 5pm; $10 at the door. See you there!

A Big Band Swing/Jazz night is being held on Saturday 8 August and we'll be organising a group to attend - and YES THERE WILL BE A DANCE FLOOR. If you don't do Swing dancing, we're sure you'll still be able to do some Rock n Roll to a lot of the songs. It's called A Night in Casablanca, and it's a stylish evening of live music inspired by the golden age of swing and classic Hollywood cinema. Featuring a FULL BIG BAND and vocalists, the show celebrates the music of artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and many more. I'll be purchasing tickets on Friday (31st July) and organising a table for us, so please let us know if you are coming prior to that date.
