Melbourne Giants Softball Club

Last night we held our annual awards night, celebrating a massive season with our Giants family.

This season was not an easy one, following the heartbreaking passing of both Gino and Pete, who will forever remain in our hearts. We thank everyone who came together to honour and commemorate Gino and Pete throughout the season. Their presence continues to be felt throughout our club, both on the diamond and on the sidelines.

Despite the challenges this season bought, there is still so much to celebrate. We recognised a group of players for their hard work, dedication and contributions to the club and their teams.

Your 2025/26 award winners are:

WOMENS
Moana - Most Valuable Player
Ruby - Batting award
Christina - Best team player

MENS
Jeff - Most Valuable Player
Ryan - Runners up Most Valuable Player
Bronson - Best team player
Jack - hitters award

Treez and Mouse were also acknowledged by the men’s team for their commitment, support and hard work. Well done ladies!

This year we were also incredibly proud to rename our best club person award to the Gino Galea Memorial Trophy - Best club person award. This award received a new criteria and now recognises the member who best embodies the qualities that made Gino such a valued part of our club: spirit, passion for the game, friendship, commitment, and being both a fierce competitor and a supportive teammate.

Without hesitation, the very first recipient of this award is Pina Galea - Gino’s wife. Someone who embodies everything Gino stood for and has continued to stand beside our club through unimaginable loss and heartbreak.

Pina, we love you and we cannot thank both you and Gino enough for everything you have done for our club. The impact you have both had on this giants family will never be forgotten ❤️🖤🤍

Thank you for such a great season Giants! We can’t wait for season 2026/27.

A few moments from Super Saturday 🖤❤️🤍

What a day on Saturday!

A huge congratulations to our teams on their incredible Grand Final performances. The effort, determination, and heart shown out there is something to be truly proud of.

Our women went down 6-3 to hawks white, but the fight and resilience shown right until time of game was outstanding.

Two of our Giants Women were also recognised with association awards. Talia was awarded runners up Best and Fairest alongside Luisa (Pirates), and Moana took out Best and Fairest for the season. Well done ladies!

Our men’s team are the 2025/26 SEASON CHAMPIONS. They came away with a massive win, beating Geelong 11-2! The intensity, pressure and defensive efforts were elite. We are so proud of you boys, it was an awesome game to watch!

Massive congratulations to Ethan for being awarded the GF MVP!

To our supporters, thank you for showing up and backing us all season, it never goes unnoticed.

This season has meant more than just results to our club. With the loss of our Gino (“G Money”) and Pete (“Dad”), it was clear both teams carried them on the field. We miss you both dearly, and will continue playing for you and in your honour ❤️

Win or lose, our club has achieved something special, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.

Today’s a huge day for our club, with both our women’s and men’s teams taking the field in the A Grade Grand Finals at Presidents Park.

It’s been a tough season for our club, and we’re proud of the strength you’ve all shown throughout the season.
