Joint Training Sunday 17 May
Members from the Gold Coast and Northside got together on the Bayside for practice and some kyu grading tests. We started by reflecting on Katsuyuki Shimamoto Shihan upon the first anniversary of his passing and then got to work. Thank you everyone for showing up and congratulations to those who passed their gradings.

This is the first anniversary of the passing of our Aikido Teacher, Katsuyuki Shimamoto. At this time our thoughts go to Sensei's family, our Shosenji Dojo friends, and Sensei's Shoryukai international students. A beautiful article written by Shimamoto Shihan that appeared in the Aikido Tankyu Magazine, not long before he died, has been added to the website. Sincere thanks to Akiyo Hosono for translating and providing the article and also Shoryukai Poland for the image of Shihan.

Aikikai Honbu Dojo Kagami Biraki
The Honbu Dojo held its New Year Opening Ceremony yesterday. This included the announcement of Dan rank promotions. On behalf of Akido Shoryukai Australia, congratulations to all of those who were promoted.
This included Niek Zandee Sensei 6 Dan from Shoryukai Netherlands. Closer to home, Steve Seymour Sensei from AKI Australia Sydney, Darius Wingate-Pearce Sensei 6 Dan from Newcastle Aikido, and even closer to home David Hall Sensei 6 Dan from Brisbane Aikikai.
