AH Smith to Tony

With no golf Wednesday sixteen men participated Saturday in the second round of the AH Smith. Conditions were still heavy with little roll but that didn’t slow Tony Rule(17) who produced a brilliant round of 38 points to win the day by 4 points and the AH Smith by 3 points. Second on the day was Phil Armstrong (18) with 34 points from third Mic Spagnolo(10) 34 and fourth Ric Wills(10) on 32 points....

Where’s the Sun

Royal Yea Golf Club Report We are looking forward to some spring sunshine to dry out the course. Red Tee Competitions

The course was closed on Wednesday as were Alexandra and Eildon GC’s due to the recent.rain. But after several non precipitous days Yea decided to open Saturday with a red tee day for men. With lower handicaps than usual, 18 men participated with Rick Wills (7) coming out on top with 38 points. Anthony La Grutta(10) still in form with 36 points was second....

Golf at Yea over the last fortnight

Royal Yea Golf Club Report Conditions on the course over the past few weeks have remained heavy, with preferred lies still in play. Hopefully, with the recent rain behind us, we can look forward to some sunnier weather and the arrival of spring. Wednesday, 29th July saw 16 men contest a Par event, with Luke Gregory (9) blitzing the field with a superb +5....

54 Hole Event Starts

With many members “up north” or unavailable only 11 players participated in the first of three rounds for the 54 Hole Event. Leading the day was Phil Armstrong (17) with 36 points from second Jonathan Fisher(10) with 35 on CB from Zach Pell(12) third. No NTP on the 18th and John Tanner collected the Club award. Five ladies also played stableford with Margie Wright(20) with 34 points winning from Sharon Grogan (23) with 33....

Cold and Wet Spell

After a week of no golf due to the wet conditions it was good to see our competitions return this past week. Saturday's Monthly Medal at Royal Yea Golf Club attracted just 11 players, while Wednesday's smaller field contested a Stroke and Putting event. On Wednesday, Bob Glenister (10) continued his good form to win with an excellent nett 68, finishing two shots clear of Luke Gregory (9) on nett 70....
