There’s something about the Antilla that never gets old.

Sitting just off the coast of Aruba, the SS Antilla is one of the largest shipwrecks in the Caribbean. It was scuttled by its own crew during World War II back in 1940, and somehow… over time, it turned into this unreal underwater world. Coral has taken over the steel, schools of fish move through the broken structure, and every dive feels a little different.

It’s not just a dive site, it’s a piece of history sitting quietly underwater.

That’s why, at Aruba Bob we try to keep things simple and real. We’re a small, locally owned dive center based in Savaneta, and for us it’s never been about rushing people through dives or making it feel like a production line.

We keep our groups small, we take our time, and we focus a lot on safety, comfort, and actually enjoying the moment — whether it’s your first dive ever or you’ve been diving for years. Training matters to us.

Join the locals.

After months of hard work, dedication, early mornings, long days, and unwavering commitment to the ocean… we are beyond proud to welcome our two newest PADI Dive Instructors, Jeff and Martina 🌊💙

This achievement didn’t come easy — it was earned through perseverance, passion, and a deep love for the underwater world. Every challenge faced, every skill mastered, and every moment of growth has led to this incredible milestone.

Jeff and Martina, your journey has been inspiring to witness. From where you started to where you stand now, you’ve shown that hard work truly pays off. You didn’t just follow a path — you embraced it, trusted the process, and made it your own.

Today, we celebrate not just your certification, but the story behind it — the determination, the courage, and the heart you’ve poured into becoming the instructors you are today.

Welcome to this new chapter. The ocean is lucky to have you guiding others through its magic.

With all our love and pride,
The Aruba Bob Family 🐠✨

During a routine dive along our beautiful reefs, we were gifted with something truly extraordinary — an encounter with the majestic Giant oceanic manta ray (Mobula birostris).

Also known as the giant manta ray or oceanic manta ray, this incredible species is the largest ray in the world, with wingspans that can reach up to 7 meters (23 feet). Seeing one glide effortlessly through Aruba’s blue waters is not just rare — it’s unforgettable.

These gentle giants are circumglobal, found in tropical and subtropical seas and sometimes even temperate waters. While Aruba’s reefs are famous for turtles, reef fish, and wreck dives, a manta encounter is something truly special. They move with grace, curiosity, and an almost peaceful intelligence that leaves every diver in awe.

What makes the moment even more meaningful is knowing that mantas are vulnerable worldwide. Encounters like this remind us why protecting our oceans matters — from coral reefs to open water ecosystems.

As a locally owned dive center here in Aruba, moments like these fuel our passion for conservation, education, and sharing the magic of the sea with our community and visitors alike.

If you’re diving with us, you’re not just exploring reefs — you’re stepping into the possibility of something extraordinary.

Aruba’s ocean always has surprises waiting. 💙

Shoutout to our Divemaster Vinny for fully enjoying the swell these past days .🤙🏽🌊

The ocean is sacred to us—it gives us everything. That’s why we respect it, protect it, and pass that respect on to every guest who joins us.

We don’t just show you the reef.
We teach you how to enter the water properly, move with awareness, and stay safe out there—because the ocean is not a playground, it’s a living home.

This is why we always say: join the locals.

The Caribbean reef octopus (Octopus briareus) is a coral reef marine animal. It has eight long arms that vary in length and diameter. In comparison to the arms, the mantle is large and bulky (up to 60 cm long). This species is difficult to describe because it changes color and texture to blend into its surroundings, using specialised skin cells known as chromatophores. Its color range is very large; it can change from crimson to green, and bumpy to smooth. It weighs around 3.3 lb or 1.5 kg.
