Our Journey, Goals and what we need to do to get to Trinidad!

The Pelican Rugby Academy was established in September of 2025, in our few months of operation we have increased our athlete membership to 45 registered athletes!
These athletes range from ages 8 to 18 years old. As we are a youth development program we make it our priority to cater to as many ages as possible!
Together with the support of very dedicated parents and the wider rugby community, we have been able to host, in school training sessions at 3 secondary schools, train twice weekly at the Garrison Savannah and facilitate pop ups and training camps across Barbados.

I am passionate about cricket. My ultimate goal is to play for the West Indies team, as well as to play in places like England and Australia. As such, I am in need of sponsorship to participate in the International Cricket Programme in Australia, which provides aspiring and current professional cricketers from around the world with the complete cricket and life experience. With the focus on cricketers looking to develop their game through a season overseas, the programme involves daily training sessions with some of the world’s best players and coaches while they compete in state club competition.

Jamaica 🇯🇲 currently tops the leader-board 🥇🥈🥉 with another dominant and impressive 🎖️ medal count at the 2026 CARIFTA Games (53rd edition) being held at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in Grenada 🇬🇩. As of April 5, 2026, 🇯🇲 Jamaica has secured a dominant lead with 43 total 🎖️ medals, followed by Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹 and the Bahamas 🇧🇸.

⭕ Team Jamaica 🇯🇲 in keeping with traditions, opened day one with a total haul of 22 🎖️ medals. asserting it's traditional, Regional dominance at the 53rd CARIFTA Games in St. George’s, 🇬🇩 Grenada.

⭕ Barbados 🇧🇧 Ashlyn Simmons secured the island's first 🥇 gold medal of the 53rd Championship Games, she captured the 🥇 gold medal for Barbados in the Under-20 Girls 1500m with a personal best time of 4:36.94. This victory marked her second career CARIFTA 🥇 gold medal, following her previous win in the Under-17 Girls 1500m in 2023

⭕ History was Made when Tessica Laurence won 🇹🇹 Trinidad & Tobago's first-ever Pole Vault 🎖️ medal. On April 4, 2026, she captured the country's first-ever CARIFTA Games 🎖️ medal in the Pole Vault, securing a 🥉 bronze in the Girls Open category. However it was Tannon Niemeyer who opened 🇹🇹 T&T's 🎖️ medal account on day one with a 🥉 bronze in the Boys' U17 Javelin (57.90m).

⭕ Another outstanding performance came from Nickecoy Bramwell of 🇯🇲 Jamaica, making headlines by breaking Usain Bolt's 22-year-old under-17 400m record. Bramwell ran a stunning 47.26 seconds to surpass the previous record of 47.33 seconds.

Shania Mottley wins bronze at the 2026 CARIFTA Games in St George’s Grenada 🥉🇧🇧
Shania competed in the Under-17 girls’ high jump where she cleared 1.69 metres to capture the bronze. It was two centimetres under her personal best clearance which gave her the silver medal at last year’s Games.

Team Flickster here. Rally driving is not just something we do, it is truly who we are. This sport has been a deep passion of ours for many years, and now we are taking the next step to compete and represent with pride.

As exciting as rallying is, it also comes with significant costs. From tires that wear down quickly on tough terrain, to mechanics who keep our vehicle in peak condition, to fuel, insurance, entry fees, and essential parts, every aspect requires support to keep us on the road and performing at our best.

To make this journey possible, we are working towards a goal of $10,000. This will help cover the critical expenses needed to get us to the starting line and keep us competitive throughout the season.

This August, our team is hoping to travel to Panama to participate in friendly matches. This trip will provide our players with valuable international exposure, helping them develop their skills, gain experience, and represent our community with pride.

With your help, we can make this vision a reality. The level of financial support we receive will determine how many players we are able to take. Our goal is to raise 35,000, which would allow us to travel with a full squad of 11 players and cover essential expenses such as travel, accommodation, and our itinerary.
