RESPECT DUE TO THE ANCESTORS
Today is EMANCIPATION DAY in Barbados - the recognition of the abolition of slavery!
The island's slave revolt was led by a man named Bussa now the Right Excellent – a National Hero. It is believed he was killed in the battle.
In honor of Bussa and all who fought for me to even consider being too lazy to get out my bed so early......I am getting up now, going to the Bussa statue (at Emancipation Roundabout in St Michael) and Marching all the way to Independence Square (in bridgetown)...
Ok....maybe i won't march "all the way" but i will partake in the ceremony celebrating the abolition of slavery is held on the spot with parades, speeches, educational displays and performances....I will let you know how it went later ;0
