WPA Statement on Ball Waxing During Matches
It has come to the attention of the World Pool Association (WPA) that certain athletes have been waxing balls during matches. It has also been suggested that some players believe there is no rule prohibiting this practice.
The WPA would like to make it explicitly clear that waxing of balls is considered a form of cheating and will be dealt with under the WPA’s rules governing unsportsmanlike conduct. Athletes found guilty of such actions risk facing the maximum disciplinary penalty, including a lifetime ban from WPA-sanctioned events.
To address this issue, the WPA will implement additional checkpoints and equipment inspections during tournaments to detect and prevent this type of misconduct.
The WPA remains committed to ensuring fair play and preserving the integrity of the sport.

A quote from Albin Ouschan has recently made headlines in the pool world, and it's quite a serious statement. I wonder if Ouschan spoke in the heat of the moment. Either way, I hope this doesn’t mark the end of his stint in WNT events.
This is a full translation of an article at 𝑲𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒏 𝒁𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒈, often simply called 𝑲𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒆, one of Austria's largest and most widely read newspapers:
𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍: "𝐈 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐀 𝐃𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏!"
That’s it! Billiards ace Albin Ouschan has participated in the prestigious Mosconi Cup six times. However, he will not be taking part in a seventh edition of the intercontinental showdown between Europe and the USA, starting November 30. This is despite a verbal offer of a wildcard.
Conflict between the Association and the Organizer
The Mosconi Cup organizer, Matchroom, is currently in conflict with the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA). Albin has sided with the WPA and is abstaining from participating in any Matchroom events. "With them, you have to be grateful and keep your mouth shut. I can’t do that," says the Maria Saal native, who has earned around 70% of his prize money at Matchroom events. “It’s unfortunate. But I don’t want to play in a dictatorship,” Albin emphasized. The 34-year-old doesn’t believe Europe will win: “Europe’s A-team won’t play; instead, it will be the B-team selection!”
The WPA’s top-ranked player, Joshua Filler (Germany), also won’t be present. "He would have qualified, but that was also the case for the Reyes Cup. He was then banned there, too, for siding with the WPA," Albin explained. Starting November 10, Albin will play in a doubles event in Puerto Rico alongside his sister, Jasmin. Afterward, Jasmin will compete in the 10-Ball World Championship. Sandra Baumgartner from Klagenfurt recently broke Jasmin’s record for the most national titles, winning her 19th title at age 38.
