I understand his decision.

A guy from Sao Paulo so football was in his veins. His father walked out on his family when he was 5 years old and never returned. Man of the house from early age. He was diagnosed with hepatitis at 14, and couldn't even walk for 3 months.

A decade and a half later, he is arguably one of best CDMs of this generation. 5 champions league winner's medals is something majority of clubs can't achieve in their entire history. This guy did it in 8 years with the greatest club in the world.

He could stay with us, but he has nothing left to prove. What he can do, is earn some more money, secure future and stability for his family.

It would be selfish of us to stop a guy from leaving because we rely on him so much. Part of a journey is that it ends.
